More than one Poweradjust 2 Ultra is not recognized by Aquaero 5 XT

Wednesday, November 30th 2011, 12:48am

Greetings:

I have the Aquaero 5 XT. To the Aquaero 5 XT I hooked up three Poweradjust 2 Ultras to control three additional fans. The first Poweradjust 2 Ultra is connected from the Aquaero XT at the aquabus 2 port ("high speed" port) to the Poweradjust 2 Ultra. The other two Poweradjust 2 Ultras are daisy chained from the first Poweradjust 2 Ultra.

The USB connection from the Aquaero XT is not plugged into the motherboard. I am bench testing the equipment.

When all three Poweradjust 2 Ultras are plugged in properly, none of them are recognized by the Aquaero XT. However, when I plug only one of the three Poweradjust 2 Ultras, the Aquaero XT does recognize it, regardless which one is plugged in.

If I try to plug in any more Poweradjust 2 Ultras (via daisy chained) than one, then none of the Poweradjust 2 Ultras are recognized by the Aquaero XT.

Of course all the connected fans to the three separate Poweradjust 2 Ultra's are operating and the power led light is on.

I have firmware 1010.

What am I doing wrong?

Thank you in advance for your help.
Bill

Greetings Frank:

I have been following your very interesting posts.

Thank you for your rapid response. This is a new build and I have not loaded the OS yet (Windows 7 Ultimate).

Poweradjust 2 Setup

Wednesday, November 30th 2011, 4:42am

When I start aqua suite 4.72.00 in order to flash the PA2s to 1003 and set my first PA2 to 50, next to 51, and my third to 52, do the PA2s need to have power to them in order for aqua suite 4.72.00 to find the USB device?

I hooked up my first PA2 to the MB via USB, started aqua suite 4.72.00, but it cannot find the USB device.

Before I do something really stupid, I thought I should ask first.

Thank you.

UPDATE: Yes, the molex connector needs to supply power to the PA2 before aqua suite 4.72.00 recognizes it.

The PA2s need to each have unique id's set with Aquasuite 4.72 from 50, 51 ,52 corresponding with Ch5, 6 & 7. Thats how you tell which is which.
Of course you also need to daisy chain the PA2s to the A5 high speed aquabus port AFTER you have individually hooked them up 1 AT A TIME to USB for initial configuration with Aquasuite 4.72 to set the address Id's as above. Once configured the USB cable is not required for the PA2s as only the A5 will need USB.

Check you have the USB cable in the correct orientation at both ends and yes you need molex power.

If you want more detail there is a detailed thread all about A5 over at xtremesystems.org
My post here has a lot of relevant info and if you do a search for my posts you will find a lot of info specifically about the A5 and PA2s. > http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/show…l=1#post4930770

Thank you for your very kind response.

Once I realized that each Poweradjust 2 required their individual address (and why would they not, I asked myself), all things worked properly. I am thrilled with the A5 XT.
