Leakshield Fill Level 0?

Hey folks. I just started using a new D5 Next Ultitube 100 with leakshield. When i first started using, I kept getting alarms and ran diagnostics and my membrane wasn't being recognized. I cleaned with isopropyl alcohol and now that diagnostic passes. My fill level keeps getting measured as 0%. I get an alarm when using leakshield mode. Monitor mode works fine. How can I troubleshoot? I had a professional shop put together the build, I'm confident in their work.

Have you also performed the test that checks for trapped air inside the loop?

The fill level detection will not work correctly if there is too much trapped air inside the loop.

While running that test, these are the results i get. I've tried the de-arate feature. What is the best way to go about releasing the air?

Without knowing your previously fill level it is impossible to tell anything by the photo ;)

If there is trapped air you can try to tilt the PC into different directions while the pump is running at full speed. When you move the system around, keep an eye on the water line within the reservoir to avoid sucking in further air into the loop.

Based on your photo the fill level is also way too high and will cause several problems with false alarms and wrong measurements like the fill level. I would suggest to keep the water level at about the half and test again. Maybe that also already helps somewhat with your current problem.

Apologies for not specifying, the top of the black tape shows the water line prior to running the test.

When you say keep an eye on the water line, what would happen to the fill level if more air is sucked into the loop?

It might not be quite half, but before running the test my water level is maybe at 60% of where it was in that photo. You'd recommend draining some more?

The LEAKSHIELD needs at least 100 ml of air in the reservoir to function reliably.


Less air in the reservoir leads to faster reactions to pressure changes and possibly to false alarms.

In addition, the LEAKSHIELD cannot protect the computer, if there is a leak, the LEAKSHIELD draws the water into the reservoir to prevent a water leak, if you have no room for this water in the reservoir, it will immediately rise to the membrane and the LEAKSHIELD stops working.


As the water in the reservoir does not affect the cooling capacity, I would lower the level significantly, my 500 ml reservoir is 38% full.

If the level in your reservoir changes during the test, you have too much air in your system. -> Deaerate the system.
Sometimes it takes a few days until the circuit is properly vented.
It is also possible that you have a leak and the air is collecting somewhere in the radiator.
