Hello!
I'm in the finishing stages of building a brand new system and I've selected to use a few AuqaComputer parts for it. I connect everything to a Hubby7 USB2 hub (set to sata, not USB, power). As controller I use the Octo and I have the power switch connected to it's Signal connector, all my fans and rgb is also connected to it (So nothing controlled by motherboard). I have a AquaComputer reservoir with their D5 Next pump, the Leakshield and for the loop a High Flow Next.
As of now I have the remove the sata power from the pump to play with the Leakshield as none of the AC devices will turn on unless I turn the computer on, which with an empty loop would kill the pump (would switching the Hubby7 from sata to USB power allow the devices to be on while in standby?).
The manuals aren't all that good so now I hope some of you experienced users could help me a bit to use these parts, especially the Leakshield. My first task I want to figure out is how to pressure test the loop (how to operate that and read the result). I think I got it into test mode, but can't figure out what it is doing or the result (All I see is some rolling numbers, it switches to another tab showing no values, then back to the page with rolling numbers). After that I need to learn how to fill and drain the loop with the Leakshield so I can clean and flush it before use.
Any helpful links to pages or YouTube videos would be very welcome.
I believe you would be able to operate the leakshield if you connected it to a USB header, as you should then have 5 volts from the mobo even with the system off (typically).
The spec on the leakshield for current draw is 500 mA, which is the max for a standard USB 2.0 port, so it would need a single 5 pin connection for itself.
The highflow next also has functions it can perform while the system is off, I am not sure about the d5 next.
Were it my system, I would connect the hubby7 to one side of a USb 2.0 port on the mobo, and the leakshield to the other.
I would then set the hubby7 to take 5V from the USB port, with the other aqaucomputer devices on it.
