If the Lion Li PWM Fan cable is plugged into a mobo fan header, Aquasuite will NOT be able to control the fans. Aquasuite does not communicate with the mobo fan headers. For Aquasuite to control the fans, that PWM fan cable MUST be plugged into the D5 Next fan header. You had the Power Preset mode working before so you were close, but moving the Lion Li PWM Fan cable to a mobo fan header is a step backwards. If you want Aquasuite to control the fans, you have to move the Lion Li PWM fan cable back to the D5 Next Fan header. Do this, then make sure Power Preset mode is working. Then switch to Target Temp or Curve Controller mode. At this point you must assign a temperature sensor as the control source in Aquasuite. The easiest temp to use is the D5 Next built-in coolant temp sensor. I am not sure, but Aquasuite may select this temp sensor by default. If it doesn't, you have to select it as shown in my last screenshot where it says "Controller Source". Click on the plus sign and select a temperature control source.I have the L connect 3 controller. From the controller there is a cable that splits. One end is the rgb cable, the other end is the 4 pin pwm. I initially had the pwm plugged into the D5 next fan header. I now have it plugged into one of the motherboard chassis fan headers. Now that its plugged into the motherboard, aquasuite doesn't seem to be able to control it at all now. Thanks for all the help so far though!
