Is there any AC full cover blocks that will fit the circuit board of the Asus 4870 1Gb video card? From what I have read this board is the same board that will be used for the upcoming 4890 board.
That card is not compatible to our HD4870 blocks. That card has also a different layout compated to the HD4890. The HD4890 looks very similar to the initial reference layout (typ 1) but is also not compatible.
Well not entirely unexpected as ASUS plays to a different drum.
So if I use a TwinPlex for the GPU and leave on the power heat sink will just a normal air flow in a case be sufficient to cool it off? Or will I need a fan blowing directly on the card?
I can also add some copper heat sinks to the ram, but is it really necessary?
The RAM on HD4870 cards get VERY hot - I would not use it without any addtional cooling!
A pssive block with some airflow on the voltage regulators should be enough since also a few other cards use it this way. Anyway, I can't ensure that it will work without any problems.
