XHTML - HTML Style Problem

Hey Leute,
ich hab da ein Problem ... ich will meine Homepage mit XHTML coden (sagt man das so? )
jetzt habe ich hier folgenden xhtml Code:
Dieser zersprengt mir allerdings mein ganzes Layout. Wenn ich die ersten 2 Zeilen weglasse sieht alles super aus ... hat jemand eine Idee woran das liegen könnte?

hm, auf den ersten blick schaut's gut aus.
schicks doch mal durch den validator vom w3c: http://validator.w3.org/
mit welchem browser testest du das denn? mit'm IE? angeblich macht der im xml-mode komische sachen, sagte erst dr. strange kürzlich wieder.
ansonsten probier doch mal statt <html> folgendes:
damit wird ein korrekter xml-namespace angegeben.
