SPLITTY9 Active - power requirements

Thursday, March 2nd 2023, 11:06am

Good Morning All.

I know that the SPLITTY9 Active requires an external power supply via SATA connector but I wanted to know if it needs all 5 wires connected (3.3v, 5v, 12v, 2 x GND) or just a subset (maybe 12v + 1 GND)? I am making my own sata power cable and wanted to drop the unnecessary wires.

hard to say without the splitty schematics :)
It probably uses one of the lower voltages for the PWM chip.. saves on DC/DC converters i suppose.

You need the 12V and 5V lines.

the 3.3V on sata connection are obsolete, 99% of all power supplies do not have the 3.3V connected at all.

Sebastian - thanks for the reply. That will save me one wire :).
