I hope Ampinel will be able to handle at least 720W of power. Otherwise, it would be useless for owners of an overclocked 5090 - and they’re exactly the ones who need Ampinel the most. By the way, recently we’ve finally got a VBIOS with an unlocked power limit for the 5090, so for many models you don’t even need to do a shunt mod anymore to overclock them.
And we haven’t even seen the 6090 yet, which may require even more power to fully unlock its potential. I’m also pretty sure NVIDIA won’t allow AIBs to use more than a single 12V-2x6 connector on RTX 60-series cards, so we’re stuck with it for a while. That means the only way to overclock flagship GPUs is to push more than 600W through that cable... and use a device like Ampinel as an additional safeguard.
