Can AE5 control light on/off?

Was thinking that the PWM1 and PWM2 outputs, could be used to power a coldcatode - or not?

No, that is not possible since these ports do not provide enough power to drive a cold cathode.

You could however create a rudimentary relay circuit which could control a switch and does your job :) There are tones of such circuits floating around in the web. Just google it :)

Actually I am interested in this myself since I run out of pci expansion slots on the back of my case so I would like to control this programatically.

How many watts can we draw from those ports?
And a relay is on the way, to test with..
Thanks.

Which ports exactly?

The normal fan headers 1 to 4 can provide up to 1.65 A at 12 V which comes to almost 20 W while the PWM ports can provide up to 1 A, they are always running with 12 V.

Well havent got it by my side right now, but I'm sure they are called 12V PWM, they are right next to the fan headers 1-4.
