Pressure equalisation membrane

Does the Pressure equalisation membrane G1/4, tall version prevent evaporation?

Other than controlling accidental spillage if tilting the computer, is there an advantage to using the membrane over leaving the port open to atmosphere?

Hi InfoSeeker,

From observing my own system which has one installed on the reservoir, I would say it allows for some degree of evaporation, as I do have to top up occasionally. Is it still better than just having an open port? Not sure.
