A few questions about LeakShield

Friday, July 4th 2025, 1:27am

I plan on using the LeakShield stand alone and need few questions answered:

1. Will there be less issues if I use hard tubing for as much of the loop as possible except the CPU and GPU runs, for those I'll use 10/16 EKWB or AlphaCool soft tubing. and the reservior.

2. Is it ok to mount the Stand Alone LeakShield on top of a reservoir with multiport top, with valve between them?

3: Does the LeakShield not work well with flat Distro/Res/Pump combo reservoirs.

1.) No, you can combine both.

2.) In theory your idea works, but the mutiport top has an integrated pressure equalization membran. You will have to cover the the little hole in the center with some tape or a drop of glue to disable the membrane. I wonder why you want to include a valve in that connection.

3.) LEAKSHIELD requires an airpocket to work correclty. The bare mimimum should be 50 ml; I recommend at least 100 ml. Distroplates usually have only small reservoirs, so that can be a problem.

Here is a rough idea what I would like to have in my PC water loop. pc wc loop.jpg I plan to use the alphacoool ES C1 distro playe and the 4/5 cube fittings in place of the 90 or 45 degree fittings when possible.

Please note that LEAKSHIELD can not handle two pumps at full speed. Their combined pressure would overcome the negative pressure and you are no longer protected against possible leaks.

To avoid that you would have to slow down both pumps. I have no exact numbers on hand, but I think you can use about 3200 rpm as maximum for both pumps to stay within a safe range.

If you use two reservoirs, the fill level measurement will no longer work correctly. In general, this configuration also comes with a higher risk that unexpected problems will occur.

I can do with out the AQC aquatube and use the ddc combo bottom on the reservoir to simplify things.

Since my loop will be close to 2 meters in length, should I use 16-12 or 14-10 PMMA hard tubes for the long runs? I will be using 16-10 soft tube from the distro block to gpu & cpu blocks, but hard tubes to connect distro plate to rest of the loop.

I think that won't really matter in the end.

can the leakshield be used with the aquacomputer Airplex modularity system radiator series with integrated d5 pump/res?
