AC Fluid

Thursday, April 9th 2009, 7:49am

So has anyone run any non-anodized aluminum in their loop with AC Fluid?

I have run aluminum aquatubes for several years with silver and copper water blocks with no problems so long as I was using AC Fluid. Been thinking of using an aluminum radiator in my loop that will have copper water blocks and an aluminum aquatube along with a 2% AC Fluid mixture. I have a feeling that a lot of people on this board have done this before so lets hear your experiences.

Not interested in hearing from people who got a mixed metal axe to grind, just the topic of AC Fluid and using mixed metals.

I've used the "airplex classic" (whose pipes are made of aluminium) since 2001 in a mixed loop (copper [cuplex, twinplex] & anodized aluminium [aquatube]).
Never had any problems.

afair sebastian (from AC) had a non-anodized Graphicscard-cooler in his loop using acfluid...

Thanks Hobbes...

That's good enough for me. :D

Btw, that looks like a nice compact radiator. Anymore of those around?

no. the airplex classic was taken from Fiat (iirc) and never designed for watercooling. the fins are too close to each other for slow airflow and also quite sharp (I've cut myself several times with that thing...)
it performes similar to the airplex evo 120.
