System Of A Down
Origin: Los Angeles, CA, USA
Status: Active
Last Update: December 19, 2002
The interestingly-named System Of A Down seemingly came out of nowhere in 1998, signing to American Records and winning a major tour support slot with Slayer, prompting an en masse response of "Who?" from Slayer fans. Of the many nu-metal bands that have emerged in the last five years or so, System Of A Down are generally a bit heavier, certainly more socially/politically aware, and more diverse in their songwriting, evidenced by cool songs such as "Peephole". Their debut album was a pleasant surprise in 1998, and they have surpassed expectations with their follow-up, Toxicity. In the crowded and oft-maligned field of nu-metal, System Of A Down clearly stands as one of the best.
ergo: nu-metal bzw new-metal (wobei das "metal" im namen in meinen augen ne beleidigung fürs genre is aber über geschmack lässt sich ja streiten

)
