D5 Next Pump wrap

Saturday, April 26th 2025, 8:18pm

My D5 Next Pump cylinder appears to have a black paper wrap with a silver barcode sticker and QC#.
Is this paper wrap intended to be removed?
When I see pictures and videos of the pump I see shiny plastic.
Thank you for any advice. David

I've watched a couple unboxing videos and am now thinking the paper wrap is intended to stay.
and maybe it's just bad luck my sticker and QC# are going to be exposed when installed.

The black wrap is installed by Laing at the factory. The numbers are batch numbers. You should not try to remove it. Mine has the paper and the number 48, or maybe 40. It's upside down like yours but only the bottoms of the numbers are visible. Mine doesn't have what looks like part of a bar code on yours. I have the bracket #34111installed so it may be hidden by that. I think I noticed it when I bought the D5 Next but its not a big deal. The number and bar code on yours are in an unfortunate position. If the barcode is a sticker on top of the black wrap you might be able to get it off, but it may leave residue or a difference in sheen. Honestly, I think its luck of the draw. I don't know if EKWB, AlphaCool, Swiftech, or other companies that sell D5 pumps hide those markings somehow..

Thanks so much Speedy for taking time to reply. I was able to remove the barcode with no residue or discoloration. I was worried as you suggested when removing the barcode, but turned out fine. I can live with the "48." As you say, just luck of the draw. Being a new build, it's just my OC wanting it to be perfect. Thanks again!
