I don't understand "RGBpx"?

Montag, 24. Februar 2020, 21:27

Can someone explain what "RGBpx" is please, and how is it different to standard 5v A-RGB?

I'm looking at getting a Quadro and would like to use the RGB controller, but none of it makes any sense to me. For a start the product page says it can control 4-channels of addressable RGB strips/fans, but it only has one header. And it's a 4-pin at that.

And is it supposed to be compatible with standard 5v A-RGB devices, like a Phanteks LED strip for example? Or is it all a proprietary system that only works with their own strips?

RGBpx is basically just a product name for the own connection type. There are adapters for connection default componentes to RGBpx of even to connect RGBpx to standard mainboard header:
https://shop.aquacomputer.de/product_inf…roducts_id=3829
https://shop.aquacomputer.de/product_inf…roducts_id=3831

And with a splitty, you can even directly connect Corsair or NZXT products as well:

But the Quadro has only one RGBpx channel for up to 90 LEDs. It hast four PWM Channels. Maybe you messed this up?!

Right, so it is a totally proprietary connection that only works for their own products, and you need adapters to make it compatible with other types?

Multiple retailers say it has 4 RGB channels on the product page. Maybe this is a mistake... here's the quote, same from OverclockersUK and UKwatercooling:

Zitat

"The four RGBpx LED outputs can be used to connect AquaPC's corresponding RGBpx strips and can also be controlled via the software"

Only the four-pin connector is proprietary, behind that it seems just argb.

It seems the text belongs to the Farbwerk360, wich has four RGBpx Channels/Connectors. The Quatro has one Channel and the Octo hast two channels.

RGBpx is compatible with all "WS2812" LED. That is the most common adressable LED Standard.
The Connector is Molex Picoblade.

RGBpx has some Limits:
- maximum 90 LEDs on a RGBpx Channel
- all LEDs on a channel need to be chained in a row. If you want to connect 2 LED strips, you need to place a wire between the end of the 1st strip and the start of the 2nd strip.
You can set different effects on a RGBpx channel in the Aquasuite software. (for example: LED number 1-33 get effect X, LED number 34-55 get effect Y)
