Overview of all new products from the last days

Freitag, 27. Juli 2012, 17:25

After some request for more information about our new products in the aquaero 5 thread I thought it would be nice to sum up all new products of the last few days into one thread.

Unfortunately all software screenshots are in German but the software can be also switched to English.

Let’s go ;-)

Laing D5 pump with USB and aquabus interface
We have developed a new controller board for the D5 pump which also fits directly in its housing. The controller features connectors for USB, aquabus, a temperature sensor and an output for a tacho signal which can be configured – for example it can be turned off when an alarm is active.

The rpm value of the pump is forwarded by USB or aquabus. You can connect up to four of these pumps via aquabus to the aquaero. There is no limit when you use them via USB.

The best part: you can adjust the speed of the pump through the aquasuite 2012 software or the aquaero 5. The controller uses the speed regulation of the pump which is already there so it does not generate any further heat because of an voltage regulator like it would be the case with a poweradjust 2 controller for example.

When you have done all settings you can also unplug it from the USB or aquabus. The controller has its own processor and does not require a permanent connection to the PC or aquaero 5.

The pump costs 89.90 EUR (75.55 EUR w/o VAT)

mps - a new generation of flow sensors
Since years we offer a lot of monitoring equipment for water cooled systems and the “high flow” sensor is one of our bestsellers. With the feedback and wishes from our customers we have developed a new generation with some important key features in mind: it should be smaller, offer an USB and aquabus interface, should be powered through them and everything with a low flow resistance but with an increased accuracy.

Say hello to the new mps – multi purpose sensor. The mps flow series are technically based on a differential pressure measurement and do not contain any rotating components. This method is known from large sensors in an industrial environment, they also cost a fortune and nobody would use something like that for a PC water cooling - until now ;-)

The case is made from Delrin and has an engraved stainless steel cover. The pressure sensor itself is a silicon chip covered by a stainless steel diaphragm. The sensor has a very high resolution of 0.00005 bar. Inside the case we also have another sensor to measure the water temperature. A second temperature sensor can be connected externally. Another connector generates a configurable tacho signal.

The sensor can be used by USB with the aquasuite 2012 or by aquabus with the aquaero 5. You can attach up to four of these sensors to an aquaero 5.

While the older sensors use an calibration value (impulses per liter), this one uses a calibration curve. Curves for the most common cooling liquids are already integrated in the software but you can also generate your own curve by adding at least three points with a reference value. The rest is calculated by the software.

The sensor comes in three different versions: mps flow 100, 200 and 400. The number indicates the maximum measurable flow rate. The minimum flow rate is a fifth of the maximum value. For example: the version 100 can be used in a range between 20 to 100 l/h.

The price is 49.90 EUR (41.93 EUR w/o VAT).

If you are a fan of the old mechanical style than I also have some good news: the high flow sensor is also available in a new variant so it offers USB, aquabus, temperature sensors and an tacho signal output. This variant costs 59.90 EUR (50.34 EUR w/o VAT).

A few photos and screenshots:

So, why is it called multi purpose sensor when it only reads the flow? Well, this brings us to the next product…

mps – also reads the fill level and pressure
Many of your use tubes or other larger reservoirs and our tubemeter can not be used with them or only with some downsides. The new mps controller can not only read the flow, with another housing it is also able to measure the fill level or the pressure.

There are two different ways how to connect this sensor to a reservoir.

1: You connect two tubes to the sensor. The first goes into one of the lower threads on your reservoir and the second must be connected on a thread at the top (for example a filling cap).

2: You connect only one tube to the sensor and connect it to a thread on the bottom of the reservoir like in the first method. The counterpart will be another new product: a pressure equalization membrane. It will be installed at the top of the reservoir. The membrane allows gases to pass and thereby continuously equalizes the internal pressure of the water cooling loop and the ambient pressure. This way the sensor can also detect the correct fill level.

Like the flow variant this sensor is also available in different variants. We have mps pressure Delta 40, 100, 500 or 1000. The numbers indicate the maximum fill level in centimeters. So most customers will use the Delta 40 variant while the other ones are already pretty special and make only sense when you have a very huge reservoir. So, why not just use the Delta 1000 variant? The reason is the resolution of the sensor. When using the Delta 40 variant you have a lot of small steps so you can tell the fill level with an accuracy of half a millimeter. When using the Delta 1000 variant the step size is around 1 centimeter. The general tolerance is around +/- 3%.

Like the mps flow variant the pressure sensor also offers USB, aquabus, an internal and external (optional) temperature sensor and a tacho signal output. The sensor is powered by USB or aquabus. You can connect up to four of them to an aquaero 5. When connected via USB you can use as many as you want to.

The calibration of the sensor is very easy. You set a null value with the software and enter the height of the reservoir.

The sensor has M5 threads and we recommend to use a tubing size of 4mm. Please note that no water runs through this sensor so the size has no effect at all on the general flow rate.

Besides the fill level you can also measure just a single pressure value. For example you can check the pressure of the pump or measure differences between two points in your loop. The software offers a calibration function to test whatever you want. Depending on the selected variant you can measure a pressure between 40 mbar (Detla 40) and 1000 mbar (Delta 1000). Please note that the Delta 1000 variant is not able to measure a pressure difference and must be used with the pressure equalization membrane.
(A side note: if you want to tell the pressure of the pump - for most pumps the Delta 500 variant should be enough, for dual setups the Delta 1000 should be the better choice.)

This sensor is also made from Delrin and features an engraved stainless steel cover. All variants cost 37.99 EUR (31.92 EUR w/o VAT).

aqualis - reservoir with borosilicate glass
Reservoirs with a tube style a very popular but we never offered them with a good reason: we know about the problem with the thermal and mechnial forces and almost everyday you will find someone who shares his story of a broken tube reservoir.

The solution is simple: using real glass. In cooperation with a large German manufacturer for glass we are now able to offer tubes made of borosilicate glass. This is a special glass which is resistant against even the hardest conditions in the chemical industry. Our tube has a diameter of 75mm and a wall thickness of 5mm. The tube has a length of 15cm and can take almost a half liter of liquid if you would fill it to the maximum. As an option the glass is also available with a nano plating so you get a "non-wetting-surface" where the water easily rolls off.

The aqualis reservoirs are available in different variants. The aqualis XT is the most advanced variant and features an integrated mps module to measure the fill level and water temperature plus all the other things that have been mentioned in the previous chapter. You can place up to six 5mm LEDs in the base for some nice illumination effects. Another eye catcher is the pipe in the center with 8 nozzles where the water runs down from the top into the reservoir. To avoid problems with air bubbles making their way into the loop, a Plexiglas plate is placed a bit above the base. If you do not want to use the pipe you can also use the outer threads on the base so the water just flows in and out like in a classical reservoir.

The other parts in the aqualis are made from Delrin, stainless steel and nickel plated brass. An optional mount made of stainless steel can be used to place the reservoir somewhere in the case. The increase the stability we also offer additional holders made of black Plexiglas.

A quick overview of the variants and prices.

Aqualis ECO – 49.90 EUR (41.93 EUR w/o VAT)
Does not feature the LED inserts and mps sensor

Aqualis PRO – 64.90 EUR (54.54 EUR w/o VAT)
Offers the LED inserts and other than the ECO allows the later installation of a mps sensor.

Aqualis XT – 99.90 EUR (83.95 EUR w/o VAT)
Offers the LED inserts and already comes with a premounted mps sensor and the necessary pressure equalization membrane

All variants are also available with the nano plating. The additional charge is 10.00 EUR (8.40 EUR w/o VAT).

Each aqualis comes with a stainless steel holder, the Plexiglas insert to block the air bubbles when you use the central pipe and a stainless steel baffle plate when you use it the classical way to route the water to the sides so possible air bubbles are not sucked in again.

The additional black Plexiglas holder costs 9.90 EUR (8.32 EUR w/o VAT)

A few photos and a video:

Pump modules for aqualis
Besides the aqualis series without a pump we also offer a modular variant with pump modules. The main part is the tube and a base which connects to the different pump modules. The base offers the option to place two LEDs. Unlike the other aqualis reservoir the variant with the pump does not offer the effect that the water runs down along the pipe in the middle. The pump variant uses a classical in- and outlet scheme. As an option the tube is also available with the nano plating.

We offer three different pump modules: Laing D5, Laing DDC, and Eheim Compact 600 with ceramic bearing (its controller is the same as used on the aquastream XT pump). All three modules use an easy plug in system to attach it to the tube module. Four screws hold everything together and of course there are integrated o-rings to seal everything.

For all variants you can decide if you take them with the mps sensor to have a fill level measurement. An installation afterwards is not possible. If you decide to take a variant with the mps sensor, then the pressure equalization membrane is already included.

The D5 and DDC module come without the pump so you can use a pump that you already own or any compatible pump. The Eheim Compact 600 module comes premounted with the pump. Since this variant is based on the aquastream XT it also features an integrated fan control when you buy the ultra version.

If you are only interested in the pump modules you can also use them without the tube module. Just close the two threads with a cap and you have some kind of alternative top for the pumps.

Each pump module comes with a stainless steel holder which can be mixed with our yellow isolators to get rid off noise through vibrations from the pump. The isolators can be mounted sunk-in with the D5 and DDC pumps to save some space.

For the future: we will offer a special mounting bracket for the module when the http://forum.aquacomputer.de/images-ac/ams_gigant_3.jpg]airplex GIGANT[/url] series hits the market. This way you can use the reservoirs together with the radiators as one unit.

The prices:

Pump module for Laing D5 – 34.90 EUR (29.33 EUR w/o VAT)
Pump module for Laing D5 with mps – 59.90 EUR (50.37 EUR w/o VAT)

Pump module for Laing DDC – 29.90 EUR (25.13 EUR w/o VAT)
Pump module for Laing DDC with mps – 54.89 EUR (46.13 EUR w/o VAT)

Pump module with Eheim Compact 600 standard – 69.90 EUR (58.74 EUR w/o VAT)
Pump module with Eheim Compact 600 standard and mps – 94.90 EUR (79.75 EUR w/o VAT)

Pump module with Eheim Compact 600 ultra – 89.90 EUR (75.55 EUR w/o VAT)
Pump module with Eheim Compact 600 ultra and mps – 114.89 EUR (96.55 EUR w/o VAT)

Aqualis tube base module – 39.90 EUR (33.53 EUR w/o VAT)
Aqualis tube base module with plating – 49.90 EUR (41.93 EUR w/o VAT)

Really nice! Do you have some more measurements on these items?

These would be really nice since im doing a custom holder for the d5 pump res combo.

Montag, 30. Juli 2012, 11:06

A = 168.75 mm
B = 46.1 mm
C = 34.0 mm
D = 40.5 mm
E = 22.0 mm

(measured by hand so small tolerances are possible...)

Thanks shoggy! That is accurate enough i think. Funny thing, I was about to send a whole custom chassis to the laser cutter the 27th, but i got delayed. And then I saw your post with your new items yesterday, and I just had to change my whole lineup! Just to be absolute sure, the total length (maximum amount of height from top to bottom) of the D5pumptop res combo is 168.75+46.1+34= 248.85mm. So about 250mm in total? Correct?

I forgot that i also need this measurement to be able to place the holder at the correct height and distance from the wall:

I would also like to check that i will get these functions:
Measure flow in the loop.
Measure temperature in the loop.
Measure pressure in the loop.
Measure water level in the loop.
Control a total of 8 gentle typhoon fans to 4 different channels.
Control your D5 pump, speed and measure rpm.

With these items:
Aquaero 5 XT USB fan controller 159,90 EUR
Aqua Computer D5 pump motor with USB and aquabus interface 89,90 EUR
Pump adapter for D5 pumps for aqualis with fill level sensor, G1/4 59,90 EUR
Aqualis base for pump adapters with nano coating 49,90 EUR
Flow sensor mps flow 100/200 or 400, G1/4 49,90 EUR

And with these misc items:
Pressure equalisation membrane G1/4 6,99 EUR
Aquabus / RPM signal cable 2,98 EUR
3x Aquabus cable 4 pins 2,95 EUR x3
Decoupling set for pump installations, extra-soft yellow rubber buffers 6,90 EUR
Holder for aqualis reservoirs 9,90 EUR

If i understand correctly, I would be able to connect all the Aquabus components to the Aquaero 5 (Flowsensor, D5 pump, Res) and then connect fans to the different channels on the aquaero and have all the functions listed with these cables and components? And the Flowmeter AND the D5 pump top can measure water temperature, correct? Or do I need a inline sensor for that? Also, what version of the Flow Sensor would you get for a D5 pump? And the membrain is needed so the sensor can detect the correct water level and i have to put that in the top of the resorvar and connect water in and out to the pump part of the rescombo?

Sorry for the long post and all the questions! But I need to be sure that i have thought of everything when i send the chassis to the laser cutter.

Best regards
Andreas

Very nice products,

I've a couple of questions:
which cable is required to read the temperature inside the flowmeter MPS 400?
the cable is included in the package?

how is it monitored the temperature inside the sensor? or better, what are the main differences between the sensor and integrated in the MPS and for example this:
http://shop.aquacomputer.de/product_info…roducts_id=2293

Thanks you very much in advance for the answer.

@Brodholm: The total length of around 250 mm is correct. The other dimensions:

F = 7 mm
G = 20 mm
H = 3 mm (might be changed for the final production!)
I = 77 mm

If you want to measure the fill level and the pressure at some point you will need a second mps sensor. The mps sensor inside the pump module only measures the fill level. The pressure equalisation membrane is already included with the pump module (mps versions) so you do not have to buy it separately. With our listed parts you will need two aquabus y-adapters, with another mps for the pressure you would need three.

For a single D5 pump the mps flow 200 will be enough.

The rest is OK.

@917K: there is no special cable required to read the temperature. The temperature sensor is fully integrated and is also available through the USB connection with the aquasuite 2012 software. The cable is included.

Like the other mentioned sensor their temperature probe is placed near the water but has no direct contact to it. There is no real difference between both sensors.

Thanks a bunch! That really helps!

Do i have to put the membrain directly on the res? or can I put a hose on the top and place it a bit over? I thought of having the fillport and membrain on a T fitting above the res.

Also, the "alarm" connectors on the pup-top and flowmeter for the example. Are they regular 3pin cables like the ones fan uses? And are they really needed when you have an Aquabus cable? or do i need to connect them to the aquaero?

Mittwoch, 1. August 2012, 11:33

You can also extend the top with a tube and then place the membrane. That has no effect on the fill level detection.

The alarm outputs just generate a tacho signal like a fan. There is no need to connect them anywhere - especially not when you use the aquabus since this already provides all sensor data so you can set your alarm actions in the aquaero.

What brilliant timing! I'm just about to buy several of AC parts including an Aquaero this Friday. I would like to add some of these new ones to my list so I want to understand how they work.

1) I see that the MPS Flow 400 measures between 80 liters per hour and 400 liters per hour. I have a DDC pump with pwm control which in a small loop can get rates up to and possibly over 500 liters per hour. What happens to the sensor if this condition exists? Will it break the sensor? Will it merely say that it is at 400 liters per hour or will it be eratic and give a value that is completely unreliable?

2) I am going to be buying an Aquaero 5 Pro and my goal is for my loop to be between 300 and 350 liters per hour. Can I use the MPS Flow 400 sensor value to adjust the pwm signal to my DDC pump from an Aquaero 5 Pro in order to target the 300 to 350 liters per hour flow rate range?

3) I plan on purchasing 3 of your inline temperature sensors to measure water temperatures at critical places in the loop. I read that the temperature sensor within the MPS Flow does not come in direct contact with the water. Will it still read the water temperature as accurately as the inline sensors or will I have to ignore it's value and possibly add in an additional temperature sensor?

4) Is the MPS flow meter as accurate as the High Flow meter?

I appreciate all your help in this matter.

@AC: Dear Aquacomputer,

I’ve ordered one of your MPS flow sensor via Aquatuning the first of august (I apologize if I was not allowed to name the shop, eventually modify the post to delete the name) .
The original expected shipping date was the 10 of august, but the 15 I was contacted by the staff of AT, who told me that the MPS still had not been received and, the currently expected receiving date was unknown; so I kindly ask you from which date did you expect the availability of this products.

Thank you very much in advance for the answer.

D5 Bracket Measurements

Freitag, 31. August 2012, 10:27

Hi all, anyone from here may provide me the measurement of the D5 pump bracket A and B in the picture? Thanks in advance

Donnerstag, 6. September 2012, 13:31

@Davron: 1.) It will not break the sensor but with a value above the specification the membrane of the sensor might deform slightly so you will have to recalibrate the sensor with the software. Or in other words: you should avoid flow rate above 400l/h. I also doubt that the pump will come even close to this value - also in a small loop.

2.) No, that is not possible.

3.) Also the internal sensors have no direct contact to the water so it will not make any real difference ;) Of course the mps has been calibrated to take into account that there is a small wall of material between it and the water.

4.) Other than the mechanical high flow sensor the measurement quality of the mps depends a bit on the connectors that you use since they alter the way how the water runs through the sensor which has an effect on the sensor technique that we use. To get precise values you would have to do your own calibration of the sensor (the software does include everything to do that). We use an average value by default which should provide good measurements but if you are looking into the last bit of detail you have to recalibrate it within your own setup. The mechanical variant might work a bit better out of the box because of its more tolerant construction but of course it also has many other downsides when compared to the mps.

@917K: we have A LOT of orders for these sensors so production and processing of all orders take some time. We shipped quite a lot sensor this and the last week so I guess you will get yours soon.

@yongtw: the mounting use the same distances as a 92mm fan. Unfortunately I have no mount or fan here, but it should be no problem to find out the correct distances with this information.

My post is not meant to be a critique on the shipping time, but I was only interested to have an indication of how long I had to expected.
But now the wait should be almost over :D
Thanks you very much for the reply.

Shoggy, I just up graded from the Aquastream XT to the AquaComputer D5 pump. I have connected the D5 to the computer with a USB, three wire Aquabus, and four wire Aquabus, and both USB and four wire Aquabus. AS 2012 b16 does not show the pump under any conditions. I expected to see an English version of the AS2012 page that you demonstrated in the original post on this thread. What is wrong?
.
Thank You for a great product.

What happens in Windows when you plug in the pump via USB. Normally you should see a message that it found an Aqua Computer mps or something like that.

If identified correctly by the system there is noting else to do. It should be listed on the left side within the aquasuite.

You could try it on another USB-Port or different PC but if it still does not work we have to assume that the controller is faulty :thumbdown:

Shoggy, I have done cold boot, Power and standby power to system totally off, with the AC D5 on USB and Aquabus. No screen such as you show in post 1 of this thread appears. I have uninstalled AS2012, re downloaded and re installed AS201b16 and no changes. I can set up a controller in AS2012 that uses the mps D5-1 as the output and shows 12% of max on the controller page, but pump speed does not change as verified by flow meter and temps and water spout in the Res. I have tried this on USB and Aquabus. I put a Tempurature sensor on the pump, I can see a Temp in AS2012 when the pump is connected by Aquabus, but not USB, so I think the pump electronics are good.
.Windows does not identify the pump as a USB device.

The pump can not be left out in English since the software does not differ between the languages for the main structure. The languages are only strings from a database where English is always the fall back option. If there is no string given at all, than you would see the name of the internal variable which is also English since our programmer uses English names for variables.

I do not understand that 12% thing. What happens when you use a constant value, set it to 100% and assign the pump to it?
