Which pump? Aquastream XT vs. Pump module compact 600 Ultra

Donnerstag, 10. Oktober 2013, 16:34

Hello, I am about to start building my first watercooling loop, and I plan on using an Aquaero 6.
I still need to pick a pump and I want to go either with the Aquastream XT or the compact 600 ultra, so that I can connect the pump to the Aquaero 6 via aquabus.

However I am not sure what's the difference between the two pump modules, except that the compact can be mounted with an aqualis top. I tried to look at the manuals, but I couldn't find any comparison. Can anybody enlighten me?

Thanks
carmas

Neither, get a D5. The USB version if you want good control of it from the AQ6. Simpler, more powerful than either and a ton of different accessories to chose from for it.

Thank you for the answer, it was very helpful.

So, if I go with this Aquacomputer D5 I need to pair it with a proper top. Would this + an aqualis res work, or do I need something more?

One more thing, I see this pump has a max wattage of 37W, then I guess I should also use a Poweradjust2, right?

The D5 USB gets its power direct from the PSU, it doesn't draw power from the Aquaero so no, it doesn't require a poweradjust.
The Aquaero 6 can power a normal D5 directly by itself if that was necessary too, it can just control the speed of the USB version though.

Any D5 pump can work with any D5 pump top so yeah, that top combined with a res will work fine either as separate units

or the Aqualis base unit that integrates them together.

The Aqualis reservoirs are quite large so just make sure you have room for whatever way you want to go.

Edit: Regarding the 37 Watt rating for the D5. It seems most companies that sell relabeled OEM D5's use a general set of specs that include the whole family of D5 pumps including the D5 strong that is designed to work at 24 Volts ... the 37 Watt rating is for the D5 strong model. A D5 Vario does not improve when fed 24V and will only use 2A at 12V in extreme high flow circumstances. In a loop with any sort of resistance the amps used is much lower ... usually less than 1.5A or 20W

Hello Enser,

Love to see folks participate, but just a tip, you should look at the thread's date... this one is about 2.5 years old :)
