anyone knows why the Micro Drive G1/4 cooling block comes with a wrench and no screws? wondering how will it be able to screw on the HDD onto both sides of the plate?

You use the screws that came with your HDD or the case for example. The little wrench allows you to access the small gap for the screws when a second HHD will be installed.

HDD do not come with bolts anymore... and definitely not Hex bolts... hmmm not sure if can find a hex head bolt that is that flat to hook up the 2nd HDD ...

do we need to use thermal pads/stickers for the HDD cooling plate?

It would help to get better results. In the end it is like a block for CPUs or GPUs. Of course you want to minimize the roughness of the contact surface.
