One D5 pump or two?

Montag, 30. Mai 2016, 05:39

Hi all,

So finally after much research, this will be my next upgrade:

1 x Heatkiller IV basic acetal
1 x Heatkiller GPU block for gtx 1070 or 1080
1 x Aquacomputer AMS 480 rad
1x Aquacomputer Radical 4 - 480 rad
3 pairs of Koolance QD4's
Tygon R6016 Norprene tubing
Coolant = Innovatek Protect

I have one D5 with EK top + res. Loop plan: Pump(s) -- cpu -- gpu -- 480 rad --- 480 rad --- pump(s) is this the correct loop or should i change
the loop order?

Judging from reviews the AMS rad is rather restrictive the Radical rad is low/medium restriction.
The heatkiller IV basic Acetal is one of the least restrictive blocks out there.

So would one D5 pump handle this loop with good flow atleast 1gpm? Or should i get my self another D5 pump and combine them with EK top for 2
D5's in serial for more head pressure?

I went with the Aquacomputer rads because they are clean inside no flux that may end up in my blocks as a side note i think two 480 rads should
be good for a cpu and gpu loop while getting good temps as well as silence. And Norprene tubing for no plasticizer issues or leeching just
want a clean system.

Anyway your feedback regarding one or 2 D5 pump(s) is much appreciated

Hi

I think one D5 should work for you system. the D5 is very powerful and silent if you use a shoggy or something else.

i got one in my System an i got 5 blocks and over 12 angles in it. :whistling: @25% pump power i got 100l/h (26gal/h). @100% over 200l/h (52gal/h)

Make sure your flow is with in the 1.0-1.5 GPM sweet spot. That's where you want your current flow to be or at least during load.

My Aquaero 6 XT ramps up my MCP-35X2's to that current state when pushing the system but slows down to around .07 GPM when idle. Keeps it nice and quiet.

My Aquaero ramps up my D5 and the fans to 100% under load. @idle pump is 25% and fans 45% (400rpm)

i think is ok. my overclocked 980Ti got max 60°C under load

Hello,

Thanks for the reply. 100l/h = 0,44 gpm and 200l/h = 0,88 gpm not the optimum 1gpm but then again your using 5 water blocks. Could you post your type of water blocks including your radiators if you don' t mind?

I dropped the idea of using two Aquacomputer rads instead now im looking at one Aquacomputer AMS 840 rad with 2 water blocks.

Hello,

Thank you for the information, judging from your used blocks i think i am ok with the D5 with the AMS 840 rad plus 2 blocks.

like i said: very powerful pump.
