Looking for a Hydraulic Engineer

Dienstag, 20. Dezember 2016, 22:11

I have a 3-port valve I would like to implement for flushing purposes, but I need some feedback from knowledgeable folks.

The 1/4" valve I am looking at has a Cv (Coefficient of Flow) of 0.75.
Is this sufficient for a typical cooling loop?

There is a 3/8" valve available that has a Cv of 1.5, but it is larger and would be more complicated to place.

Hello,

I think that more important is DN (diameter nominal). 1/4" valves has DN=6 mm, 3/8" valves has DN=10 mm. I use valves for VC with 1/4" with DN=10 mm but standard 2-way.

I work in high pressure cleaners.

Thanks George.

The 1/4" valve I am looking at has a stated "orifice" size of 4,8mm.
I assume the stated orifice is the diameter of the ball bore, and being the smallest constriction in the valve, correlates to the DN.

The 3/8" valve has a stated orifice of 7,1mm.

I suppose either valve will work, but the 3/8" will experience a lesser pressure drop.

I am a bit leery of the 1/4" valve's 4,8mm DN.

Hello to Texas,

I look over the internet and you need full port ball valve.

Like this: http://www.valworx.com/product/3-way-lea…ull-port-14-npt

Orifice is 9,906 mm. :)
