All airplex GIGANT beginner questions

Montag, 10. Februar 2020, 11:37

I am a bit new to all this but really want to care on everything before will buy and fail with lack of knowledge of what I will do

D5 / GIGANT related questions:
1. Does x2 D5 NEXT compatible with EK-XTOP Revo Dual D5 Serial (https://www.ekwb.com/shop/ek-xtop-revo-dual-d5-pwm-serial) ?
1.1. If yes, can EK-XTOP Revo Dual D5 Serial be mounted to stainless steel interconnecting plate (https://shop.aquacomputer.de/product_inf…roducts_id=2969)?
Description page of aquacomputer has missing information on distance, it would be nice to add
1.2. I am looking dual D5 TOP to attach it for one steel plate provided by Mounting kit for aqualis (https://shop.aquacomputer.de/product_inf…roducts_id=2969) , the problem of the bottom mounting of D5 NEXT http://prntscr.com/r0m4c1 . I am afraid this additional size will not allow for me to have it on any version of dual d5 TOP - i.e. nor https://www.singularitycomputers.com/sho…resonance-dual/ and nor https://www.ekwb.com/shop/ek-xtop-revo-dual-d5-pwm-serial

[s][s]2. Can D5 NEXT be connected to "aquabus high" (aquaero 6 pro) only without sata power? Is it enough?
I will use "aquabus X4 for aquaero 6" (https://shop.aquacomputer.de/product_inf…roducts_id=3775) as splitter for "aquabus high"

2.1. If no, how can I split Molex power supply? If I understand correct GIGANT has internal Molex (not AMP) as power supply and it's female which connected inside GIGANT to aquaero, and I didn't find any splitters like 1 female to 3 female (or even 2 female)[/s][/s]
2.2. If we can't split Molex power supply and we still need power for D5 then can we give power through USB like: connect GIGANT's internal USB to "HUBBY7 internal USB 2.0 Hub" (https://shop.aquacomputer.de/product_info.php?products_id=3419) then connect through x3 "internal USB connection cable" (https://shop.aquacomputer.de/product_info.php?products_id=3418) 2 pumps and aquaero 6?

[s] 3. I saw on the internet what D5 NEXT must be first time connected through USB in case to be detected by aquaero or something like that, is it true or just have enough connected with «aquabus high»?[/s]

4. I see another solution is to use D5 PWN (https://shop.aquacomputer.de/product_inf…roducts_id=3255) through FAN sockets on aquaero 6. Can I connect, for example 2 same pumps to one shared fan splitter (https://shop.aquacomputer.de/product_inf…roducts_id=3420) connected in FAN1 socket or I must connect each pump to splitter FAN1 and second pump to splitter FAN2?
4.1. If pump connected with that fan splitter it still does have up to 30 W (23 W limited due pump spec)?
4.2. If I will decrease voltage on FAN1 through aquasuite it will also decrease voltage for all connected fans on FAN1 connected by splitter?

GIGANT related questions:
5. Do I understand correct what GIGANT has included in delivery x1 internal(inside, gigant-aquaero) and x1 external(outside, pc-gigant) power supply cables + x1 internal and x1 external USB cables?
I ask because I read forum on German through google translator and Sven said yes, but google translator is too funky  Also product page says what only one power supply cable and only one USB cable, at the same time no idea which ones it is (external / internal), it would be nice to add

6. I plan to use inside GIGANT 2 pumps, flow sensor, mps sensor and reservoir.
6.1. I am afraid if I can't use "EK-XTOP Revo Dual D5 Serial" I will not able to connect one of the sensor due lack of space. In case to mount 4 items I will buy x2 "Mounting kit for aqualis reservoir in airplex GIGANT 3360 (inside mount)" (https://shop.aquacomputer.de/product_info.php?products_id=2969). I found on German forum this picture https://abload.de/image.php?img=photooct30155331rguhc.jpg
If take a look on it will be understand able what connection with 2 pumps will like:
#1 plate - holder of reservoir
#2 plate - top + pump

#3 plate - top + pump
#4 flow sensor or mps sensor, I believe both sensors can't be mounted here
then the question - space for last sensor?
In theory both sensors can be "mounted" like tube holding, not sure..

Answer received by Sven from AC:

Zitat

Sensor does not require any special mounting accessory.

7. Can some one share English manual for GIGANT? I found only old Germany manual but it's not possible to understand even with google translator

8. "Molex connector officially handles 11A = 132W" 132/24=5,5W , but product page says "Four fan outputs with up to 30 Watt of power per channel", so which max power consume can be with full connected GIGANT (2 pumps, 24 fans, LED), is it 132W or over 700W? Need to know to plan computer power block

9. Can I use «aqualis XT 450 ml with fill level sensor and LED holder» (https://shop.aquacomputer.de/product_inf…roducts_id=2916) as reservoir inside GIGANT? I asking because it’s not listed as «Compatible product»

10. :!: This is very important question. :!:
I read this link through google translator Airplex Gigant Tipps und Tricks and user «Godm0de» sent this picture https://abload.de/image.php?img=photooct03102658kry1wf8qou.jpg
10.1. Do I understand correct what «A» should be some how closed with "Set screw G 1/4, cylindrical" (https://shop.aquacomputer.de/product_inf…roducts_id=3355), will I still able to pull INLET water to "A" and get it back from "B" which will go to reservoir and then to pump > pump > sensors > "C" > "D" > pc case with waterblocks > "A"?
10.2. Does "Set screw G 1/4, cylindrical" (https://shop.aquacomputer.de/product_inf…roducts_id=3355) included with delivery of GIGANT or I have to buy it separated?
10.3. I can't image how this closing should work and how it mount, is it just twists in "A" like this http://prntscr.com/r0404d ? How can I mount any fitting after that then?

11. Are bolt release tools included in delivery? I assume that to unscrew the side plates, a 2 mm hexagon is needed, but I'm not sure, I would like to clarify which hexagons are needed in total

Misc:
12. Does it "Shoggy Sandwich construction kit" (https://shop.aquacomputer.de/product_inf…roducts_id=2239) hold pump mount if will be installed as vertical (I only saw horizontal working)? I want to additionally install it to remove any possible vibration and noise 8o

13. Where I have to install sensors for flow and mps better? Right after pumps or before the moment when water will go to reservoir?
Answer received by Sven from AC:

Zitat

The sensor can be placed anywhere because the flow rate is the same at every spot in your loop. I would just place it into the tubing line from the base of the radiator to the internal pump/reservoir.

14. https://www.amazon.com/Office-Chair-Cast…t/dp/B01CTIG4GE Does it compatible with GIGANT's legs? I don't know diameter of the bolts on the legs of GIGANT, but would be nice to know also to have installed these rolling wheels

Thank you every one for any help with questions

I dont have a gigant, so i can only answer some questions.

2. The D5 NEXT requires SATA Power cable (+12V and +5V). The Pump does not work without the SATA Power.
2.1 Of course you can split Molex cable. There are Adapters from Molex to SATA, too.

3. Yes, you need to connect the D5 Next with USB to your mainboard for initial setup and firmware update. You can use this cable
If you want to use the RGB functions of the pump, USB must always be connected. Aquabus is too slow for controlling the RGBpx Colors.

4. The D5 PWN requires a Molex Connector.

So regarding this I will need adapter for Molex male to x2 female (https://shop.aquacomputer.de/product_inf…roducts_id=1779) + 2 female sata

It may help if you asked questions a few at a time. When you publish a manifest like your OP, it tends to dissuade people from jumping in. ^^

Firstly, if you are going to install the pumps inside the Gigant, I would drop the D5 Next pumps... too large. Use the straight PWM version.
The D5s are mostly bling, and you won't see that inside the Gigant anyway.

Here are two shots of how I did the pumps in my Gigant a couple years ago.
PumpsMounted1.jpg
Internal1.jpg

For Ss & Gs, I had the aluminum and SS bits anodized black.
Gigant1680Black1.jpg

Pro Tip 1: Place some pads on the bottom of the SS stands or they will rip your desk up.

Pro Tip 2: In order to remove the 4 aluminum side panels you have to remove the 4 SS stands in order to access the panel's bottom retaining screw.
I checked with aquacomputer, and they advised the side panels do not contribute to the integrity of the radiator, they are wholly decorative.
So after the initial side panel removal, I screwed the bottom screws into the panel from the inside of the panel, so the protruded out the bottom of the panel.
This allowed me to "stab" the bottom of the panel into the retaining holes in the lower end, and the secure it with the screws at the top.
This way the panels are removable without turning the thing upside down and removing the stands.

InfoSeeker, I saw your thread on forum, with your way you don't have enough space to install side 140mm fans which I prefer to have. What 140 mm mounting you used? Can't find it on EK
