In my opinion pump noise can easier be damped compared to fans, which always require an opening in the casing. If you have a large and sturdy case this shouldn't be a problem.

For instance, with carefully selected components an Aqaustream XT in the setup you've suggested can easily reach 1.6-1.7l/m at 70hz. If you want more use two loops or get a pair of Liang DCC pumps. The added pump noise can be kept to a minimum and in my instance outweighs running fans at 1000 rpm.

It's rather pointless to make blanket statements stating this or that is good enough. The best we can do is provide information so people can make an informed decision. Every person can then decide for themselves how to strike an optimal balance that best meets their goals.

Hm Okay. But we are talking here about 5k? At max?
Or do you think it' s more?

It all depends on your setup. In a low flow loop with a QX6700 @ 3.6Ghz, 8800 GTX 648/1566/2106, NB cooler, Dual HDD cooler and tripple rad at 1.25 l/m, the CPU will reach 73-74C during 28C ambient temps. Stick the same CPU alone in a high flow loop, a triple Thermochill with top performing components, your temps will drop by 15C.

I think the problem is the waterblock itself. I used to have the same Cuplex XT waterblock on my Core 2 Duo E6600, and my idle temps were in the high 40's, and under load would skyrocket to mid 60's.

I replaced my waterblock with a non Aqua-PC one and my temps are now 36-37c idle, and low 50's under load when overclocked to 333mhz FSB.

I am also running a 7950GX2 in my loop with their Aquagfx block, and my water temps did not increase so much, so I think their GPU blocks are excellent, but their CPU blocks are not designed to handle the heat load for dual and quad core CPU's.

I think one side of the problem could be the way the air i blown.

I have a similar setup, with an totally watercooled pc with qx9650@4GHz and 2x AtiHD3870, 2x ram, nb, sb and 2x Aquadrive dual. 1 Thermochill PE120.3, 1 BlackIce Stealth 240 and 1 Thermochill PE120.1. The rads is cooled by 6 Noctua (NF-P12-1300)

My aquastream XT Ultra run at 70l/h (compared to 85l/h with two Laind DDC-1t in series).

When I was blowing cold air from outside the box in over my rads ( I was really blowing hot air into my case, due to the heat transfer from the radiators), I noticed that some of the heat was recycled, and that temps was gradually increasing inside my case.

Thus, by turning all radiator fans, so that they blow "hot air" from the inside case and out, my system runs much cooler. And I lovered my watertemp by 7-10 celcius (runs now at 31-32) with fans at 50%.

Mobo has temp of 40 idle to 50 full speed, and cpu 35 (45 on the kernels) idle and 50 (60-65 at the kernels) at full speed @4GHz.

Nice system :)

Water flow isnt everything from experience. And also someone said that whats the point in WC if the fans are noisier than Stock cooling...

Well i like low temps/Heavy clocking so the noise factor is no issue as its a by product :)

You will see from my thread il be posting with my setup as its only half completed as i have 1 more pump to add and 2 Voltage reg coolers + More rads oh yeah and a few HDD Coolers and also il be cooling the GFX cards when my 2nd comes in the post.

So my flow will be quick as it will be split into 2 circuits but if i had it my way id have 2 x airplex evo 1080 all fitted with fans 8)
