AC Watercooling in CM Stacker :)

Freitag, 6. August 2004, 00:01

Hi Guys,

I come across this site and became fond of the products offered here :D

I'm from Belgium and do not spead much german; "Ober einen bier", "wiefiel bitte?" are the most of my german language ;D So sorry but all will be in english 8)

Thanks to Stefan kindness (from aquacomputer.de), with him I have been able to acquire a nice watercooling kit (i'm still eager to upgrade it, savings are growing ;) ;) ) .

As I promised, here are the pictures of my newly build computer with this nice wc kit.

The tower alone:

Reversed design: Radiators are down (the air is still sucked outside the computer)

Fortunately the airflow is not hindered because "the thing" is on its toes. Wheels provided by CM :)

The thing has been filled up - now some glowmotion fluid.

I remarked some problem was growing up with the pressure inside the tubes. >:(

Ok I emptied the circuit and devised another tube routing ;)

The thing is fed again, no more problems ;D

The result: :)

The next steps will be:
-chipset wc :)
-vga wc. Not the one on the pics (my old Hercules 3D prophet Radeon 9700) but a new ASUS V9999GE (Nvidia 6800 based) ;D
-some t° mesuring & fan control :)

I'll be happy to have comments & Remarks from more experienced watercool-guys : :) :) :)

Greetings Alain

let the fans blow the air into the case(heat goes up...)
Standard = Norm, Werkseinstellung

why don't you use any angles? i don't like these big curves

oh i really like radiators at the bottom ..
but i decided to make it external for a nearly passiv cooling possibility ..
if it's to hot the rear fan sucks the warm air out of the case through a evo120

Hi all,

Thank for the replies

@ _Nobody_
Next time I do an upgrade, I will give a try reversing the airflow. ;) I just fear the air inside will go hotter, I only use a passive GPU heatsink which spread much heat inside. With D3 the air inside my case begins to heat up. Under stress conditions (D3) the Case temp is 45-50°C & the Cpu temp is 50 °C. Before WC, & without o'clocking my old PIV 2.53 I reached cpu temp of 72°C. Idle the case is near 38-40°C & The CPU is 46°C
Btw now my CPU is a Prescott 3.2 @ 3.4, it is not much but with higher speeds I get problems :'( (this is not to be debated here I think) ;)

@ -sweet-
Matter of taste I think. With short (rigid) tubes using angles don't you get problems when you need to move something ?
Remember, this is my first experience in wc & case modding. 8)

@<SIK>Zorro
It works fine :), Maybe just the airflow question is still to be tested. (in through the case or out against the natural tendency of warm air to go upside) :)

@DrLecter
The case i have is the CM stacker stc-01 from CoolerMaster
http://www.coolermaster.com/special_repo…t01/stc-t01.htm
(around 160€ without PSU)
You should easily find a dealer in Germany or on the internet using google 8)

@Stefan K. @ apmod 90 %
Thank you :) All went very fine (exept the small, easily resolved, tube problem)

@powerslide
Nice design too ;D I hope you also enjoy much this nice case :)
Don't you fear for your external radiator & the external tubing when you move your computer (e.g: for a lan party) :-[

Thank you for the commentars

If you let the fans blow into the case you have to clean out the dust every few days, so i would let them suck through the radiator to the bottom. An airplex which is filled with dust, hairs and things like that won't work.

The warm air can not get up, if the two fans are in use.
