Mounting a Evo 360 to case

Montag, 2. Mai 2005, 14:08

I'm looking at the drawing, and trying to work out where I would need to cut to fit my Evo 360 (not yet arrived) on the top of my case. I was originally going to cut between the red and black lines, but I realised that was outside of the mounting holes :-[ so where should I cut? Between the blue fan lines and the red line (before the mounting holes)?

Thanks :)

as it is the fans which touch the mounting plate, you only need to cut a hole to fit these! so, you need to cut one large rectangular hole to the outer edges of the blue lines on the diagram. hope this helps!

Oh right..
I thought it was grille then radiator then fan :-[
From what I've read there's a template included with the kit, so I'll just use that, I can't print it to scale anyway (its over an A4 sheet of paper in size)

no, the airplex evos only have mounting points on one side :( you can use a docking module (Art.-Nr.32050) to mount the fans on the other side of the rad. Actually, in this case you'll need three!

However, depending on the thickness of the case material you may need to put some spacers between the rad, and the mounting plate, as the rad has a larger footprint than three 120mm fans! That is, if you don't make the hole in the case larger to accomodate this.

Thanks...

My original plan was to have the air being pushed through the radiator from the fans below, but this would mean warm air through the radiator I think? (as below):

Plus, that would need extra mounts.

The other ways:

Or

Which is the best method? I'm suspecting the last one, as the second one would push warm air into the case...

Thanks :D

yes, the last method is the best, otherwise you would have some hotspots

Ditto and I think I would wait till everything is there before you cut. An old carpenter's adage is to measure twice and cut once. ;)
