fan guards

Dienstag, 7. Juni 2005, 15:13

I noticed on andreas L's website he had this picture
http://www.andreas-lenz.de/casemods/pics…/fan_radial.jpg

does this mean that with a fan guard this happens or is he talking about a special fan guard (solid)

Thanks

I think that's just a normal radial fan

:-/ what so all fans (or "radial" ::)) do this - push air out the side.... or am i just looking at it wrongly

My mistake, sorry.

These type of fans have their outlet through the side of the casing to direct the airflow 90° to the intake. I'm fairly sure that the fan blades would be at a different angle to force the air outwards (think centrifugal) than a normal 'through' fan.

For example, the cooler master aero blower type fan:

the one you showed on andreas' website is just a more compact version.

this type of fan normally doesn't have that high an air flow, but the air pressure is much higher than an axial fan (the normal type ;))
