Erratic Aquastream

Donnerstag, 13. Oktober 2005, 01:52

Hi all, my aquastream, although being set at 74Hz, keeps intermittently dropping in speed. the flow drops from about 60l/hour to 48l/hour

has anyone else experienced this?

is it normal?

cheers in advance

Doesn't sound normal to me. Do you have power going to both the Aquaero and the Aquastream controller? What kind of PSU do you have? Have you checked the voltage going to the pump? It should read 9 volts ac. Any warning lights from the controller?

Also 60 liters per hour isn't a lot of flow. A Koolance Exos gets better flow than that! Are you using the AC flowmeter?

mines flowing at around 40l/h acording to my flow meter :(

What kind of PSU do you have?

Antec Truepower 2.0 430W

:-/ Can't tell, it's installed in my case attached to my aquaero!

Are you using the AC flowmeter?

Yes. was deliberating on whether or not to do the mod to it to improve flow.

By the way, the one aquastream is pushing coolant through:

Cuplex XT
Twinplex
AquagrATIx (9800)
Airplex EVO 160 x 2
Aquadrive dual
Flow Sensor (unmodded)
Aquatube

Hands up who thinks that's too much for it?

Pull the Aquaero out a ways and look. Perhaps use a dental mirror to see what is going on. Your Aquastream should be fine in that configuration.

I think that you should mod your AC flowmeter as those things kill your flow. :-X

No no no ..

fairytales in our forum. Brothers Grimm is a nice movie. ;)

First of all .. you need at least 20 l/h flow. If you have 48 l/h then let it be 48. You won´t recognize any temperature difference at all and the pump is much more quiet.

http://www.henrik-reimers.de/kuehlung/pumpen.htm#durchfluss

The pump speed breaks down because your PSU is not stable enough on the 12 V. The aquastream is quite sensible on this. So if the voltage rises or drops it will go down to standard frequenz for safety reasons.

That´s all.

Cheers

Stefan

many thanks Stefan and everyone else for your help!

Top Nurse, what is the procedure for modding the flow sensor? i heard somewhere that you have to swap the inlet and outlet round, and then adjust the frequency calibration in the aquaero, as well as boring out the inlet.

is this correct?

if so, how much do i bore it out, and what are the calibration specifics?

cheers
