Waterblock for Ati 5970 questions + other help

Dienstag, 17. August 2010, 09:40

Hello,

i am new to liquid cooling and such, but im learning :). Please don't yell at me if i'm asking stupid questions or if it has been already answered somewhere else on forum, i did some searching but couldn't find what i was looking for.

First of all i am interested in buying http://shop.aquacomputer.de/product_info…roducts_id=2425 - aquagratiX for HD 5970 (2x RV870) G1/4, nickel plated with Delrin terminals.

My questions are as follows :
- is it compatible with the HIS HD5970 version of the card ? how can i check if it is?
- do you ship internationally ? more exactly in Romania ? express delivery by DHL / UPS / other courrier supported ?
- are there any instructions included ? if no where can i find mounting instructions (i have any neccesary tool just didn't do this before)
- i assume mounting the waterblock implies voiding the warranty of the card from the supplier. From your typical experience / what you have heard before do you reckon that if i take the card + waterblock at the supplier and they mount it for me / i mount it under their sight the warranty can be kept ?
- i am also buying http://www.thermaltakeusa.com/Product.aspx?C=1309&ID=1418 case (sorry if i'm not allowed to post such links here). Is it a good choice to combine looks + practicality ? What else would you recommend otherwise ?
- is the waterblock for the GPU linked above compatible with the case and its LCS ? What other components do i need to buy from aquacomputer to make the whole solution ? (fittings / tubes / i don't know)

thank you very much for your time,

Bogdan

The only way to check the compatibility is to remove the stock fan and compare it with that photo:

Your card must look exactly like that, otherwise it will not work.

We ship worldwide. Shipping is done via DHL and costs 24.90 EUR in this case.

The block comes with an German and English manual that also includes colored pictures.

I'm pretty sure you won't find any dealer that will take the time to look over your shoulder while mounting the block and also still grant the warranty. You can also buy cards with premounted blocks.

To get our block working with that system you will have to make sure that you get the correct connectors. Our blocks uses G1/4 threads. Depending on the tubing in that system you will have to buy the matching connectors.

hello, thank you for the fast reply.

now my shopping list has grown to :

http://shop.aquacomputer.de/product_info…roducts_id=2425 - GPU block

2x http://shop.aquacomputer.de/product_info…roducts_id=2502 (which i understand i also need for the graphics card)
http://shop.aquacomputer.de/product_info…roducts_id=1079 - CPU block

http://shop.aquacomputer.de/product_info…roducts_id=2192 (do i also need this ? )

now i looked into the tubing from the case and it is reported as quote 3/8" endquote. i noticed the gpu block needs adapting to G1/4 and the cpu block to G1/8. Still it is unclear for me which type of fittings i need to get for each gpu / cpu. Mind helping please?

also what cooling liquid do you recommend ?

thanks again,

Bogdan

For the tube it would be the easiest to measure the inner and outer diameter so you can be sure to get the right tube.

The backplate for the CPU block is not necessary. It is only an option. If you can spend 10,00 EUR more I would recommend to take the kryos delrin:
http://shop.aquacomputer.de/product_info…roducts_id=2505

It has the larger G1/4 threads and also the overall cooling performance is better.

i found out that the tubes have inner diameter of 9.5 mm but the outer diameter is uncertain. will 4x http://shop.aquacomputer.de/product_info…roducts_id=2322 do then ?

also does it matter for cooling performance what liquid i am using ? was thinking of something like http://shop.aquacomputer.de/product_info…roducts_id=2512 to also glow.

same question goes for cooling paste, back in the days i used to glue cpu sinks there was only 1 type of paste. so is http://shop.aquacomputer.de/product_info…roducts_id=1374 a good choice ?

thanks again

The mentioned connectors will only work when your tube has an outer diameter of 13mm.

It does not matter which type of DP Ultra you use. There is absolutely no difference in performance.

The thermal paste is OK. There is no big difference between all pastes as long as you are not fighting for every single degree.

Hello,

i decided to go for a full solution from aquacomputer afterall so i came up with the following configuration:

please let me know if i'm missing anything - like connectors, cables, power cords, tools, etc for a full working installation.

also, apparently i cannot select DHL as a shipping method, as i don't see it anywhere, all i get is this :

how can i complete the order ?

thanks again

I can't open your pictures. Just add them to the forum.

Romania is not supported by the webshop. You will have to order by e-mail. Please send a list of the items that you want to purchase and include you full address and a phone number.
