Octo fan limits

Samstag, 21. August 2021, 01:18

I have some new Phanteks fan and thinking of connecting 4 to one fan header. Manual has max of 2A per header and 8A for the whole unit. Max power on the fans is .36A. Combined looks like 1.44A. Any issue with all 4 on one header? Thanks.

Depends on the wattage of the fans. I have 8 EK Vardars on one header x 4. The OCTO can handle a max of 25 watts per channel, and a 100W max combined :)

Not according to the numbers you provided.
  • 1.44A < 2A
  • 1.44A = 17.28W < 25W

Thanks. Peak current on these fans is .36A, so I don’t anticipate an issue. Specs are here:

I have six fans that are 2.16w
And the other are 3 pieces of 9.3w
All 9 are connected to OCTO
There are also two 9.3w enthusiasm the same
Universe 40.86w
There are also six 15 LED strips installed
OCTO finally broke down
Not overloaded according to the specification
The customer service staff said that the power supply problem ;(

I read many many years ago that voltage spikes at start up can be a problem...not sure if it's true?

Also, can you use powered PWM fan splitters with the Octo and Quadro?

I use them with my motherboard...they take the signal from the header but draw the power they need from the PSU.

For example: Akasa Flexa FP5S

Can these be used with the Octo and Quadro?

Yes, that Akasa device is similar to a Spltty9 Active.

That looks pretty nice, especially with the PWM signal booster :D

Don't mean to hijack the thread but I've already got powered fan splitter cables, if I use them with a Quadro will they interfere with the functionality of the Aquasuite software...?...if so, I'll need to go with the Octo because I'm running fans in push pull and need to run 12 of them...

...or would the Quadro cover all twelve? (is it three per header with the Quadro...?...or 2?) My fans are 0.16A 1.92W

Edit: looking at the specs it says the Quadro has a 25Watts per channel upper limit, so I'm guessing it'll be okay for three per header at 0.16A / 1.92W...?
