Upgraded to recent NVIDIA Drivers (516.59), having issues with AquaComputer Service, will start then be shut down

Samstag, 16. Juli 2022, 07:12

hi all,

This happened a little while back when I was doing some occasional mining on my computer. I would load up my software and it would run all would be fine then BAM I would get an error showing the AC service died, and I'd lose access to the web export data and so on.

I stopped mining a few months ago and disabled all that stuff, and realized I was stuck on a 3-4 version old driver, updated and I'm back to the same issue.

I've tried searching to see if this is a problem or if it's related to stuff like the cheating system in Elden Ring, but I just want to be able to use my system and use the service.

What's the AC service doing to cause this insanity? Why is it constantly being killed?

If I downgrade, it fixes this problem but then creates the problem of old drivers.

Thanks in advance.

I also have GeForce Game Ready Driver 516.59, with no AC Service issues. There maybe something else also involved.

same deal. Updated recently from december drivers, no issues at all.

Same. Asus TUF RTX 3080 running NVidia Game Ready Driver v516.59 WHQL, Aquasuite updated to X.55. No problems.

Okay, the plot thickens!

Do you all have the GeForce Experience installed on your computers? I'm going to start removing things one at a time to see what helps. I just know the second I updated the GeForce drivers, I kept getting the service error where it will start then stop.

Not sure how to best troubleshoot this.

Found this in my Event Viewer for the AC service:

I tend never to install bloatware :P no Geforce experience nop.

Sonntag, 17. Juli 2022, 04:41

I did use GeForce Experience to update the drivers. I did select "clean install", which I know is not the same as using DDU to delete the old drivers first. So far, I have not had any problems updating video drivers through GeForce Experience.

Are you by chance using the AMBIENTpx effect to have video drive LEDs? Also, your 3rd screen shot lists a bunch of files. Maybe looking at these would tell you something.

\\?\C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\WER\Temp\WER.715d9063-2c09-48ed-9df1-f753b580ce18.tmp.dmp

I do the same with the clean install each time, as well. I know something changed in some of the later Nvidia drivers for LHR cards that can mess with things.

Does everyone here have a LHR card?

Also, no I'm not using the Quadro to control any LEDs, only using MSI's Dragon Center since that's all I can with my motherboard.

As to the files, sadly those directories are always empty when I check them, it's really frustrating.

I tried it again. The service always crashes after a minute and puts files here:

C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\WER\ReportArchive\AppCrash_AquaComputerServ_0fb99cb5b11c4b33fead791bc9993debb36bda4_c6d46dd0_48ff822b-7fc1-46ad-b104-0abe0d65a135

Except I can't even gain access to the folder, and I can't even find a way to get permission to the folder, even if I brute force apply a security change it doesn't do anything, I still can't gain access.

And the logs, again - but more recent:

I have as Asus TUF 3080 OC - 10G VRAM, not LHR. It's one of the original Asus models.
Hopefully one of the Aquacomputer devs will read this thread. They may be able to figure out what is happening I have never used MSI Dragon Center but I have heard that this program can be problematic. If you are disabling things, maybe try disabling that.

Dienstag, 19. Juli 2022, 02:44

I've messaged support with a link to this thread.

I've downgraded my drivers, no dice. Still kills itself after a minute.

DragonCenter is vital, I can't control my LEDs without it, so sadly turning it off is a no go, it's very finicky and has been installed since day one of the PC, hasn't been an issue.

Fingers crossed, but this is insanely frustrating, nothing I seem to do solves the issue.

Dienstag, 19. Juli 2022, 07:31

So you've updated the GPU drivers but have you tried reinstalling Aquasuite?

personally that would be my next step,

Dienstag, 19. Juli 2022, 07:34

This looks like an issue with a missing character set or an other dependency.

Try a to replace this: MimeKit.dll from the zip file in your aquasuite install folder. Restart your computer/aquasuite service.
Fix this version the error?

Thank you for the reply sebastian, sadly that fix didn't work.

Replaced the file, restarted the computer and by the time I opened Aquasuite, I received the same errors:

in the email I replied to, I mentioned that this STARTED showing up in my event viewer logs the day after the most recent aquasuite update, x.54. I checked my installed programs and the date in the application and it matches up.

So it seems that something in this version is creating these issues. Maybe I can downgrade and see if that will help?

Dienstag, 19. Juli 2022, 21:51

, sadly that fix didn't work.
try a clean aquasuite install with the setup. maybe this is an issue with your settings.

Dienstag, 19. Juli 2022, 22:06

is that going to require I rework and reset everything? I've spent a long, long time working on getting Aquasuite set up in a specific way, is there any way I can preserve at least some of the settings so I don't need to start from scratch?

Or at least save stuff so that if it doesn't work I can revert without losing everything?

Thanks for the speedy reply!

Dienstag, 19. Juli 2022, 23:34

Was able to brute install the x.55 version, got the service running long enough to check and install.

Restarted.

So if there's a way to save the settings, I'd love to do that and try a full reset.

I was going to look into a system restore pre-7/6 but the earliest restore point is 10 days ago, sadly.

Thanks in advance.

To confirm - this seems to have solved the problem.

Only issue is the previous settings are still locked away, I copied the profile folder and it.... didn't change anything. None of my virtual sensors or ugh, email accounts were saved and sadly I thought it would be in the programdata info, it wasn't.

Mittwoch, 20. Juli 2022, 04:14

THE

PLOT

THICKENS

So, seeing as I had to start from scratch even after copying the profile info in, I added my email account.

Set it up, confirmed the password, saved it, hit test - bam, service crashes.

SO something is happening with the email server. Makes sense, last email notification of temp updates was on the 6th of July.

Mittwoch, 20. Juli 2022, 07:25

I can confirm this, my X.55 also loses contact with the Aquasuite service when I trigger a mail.
Under background service, the service is still displayed as "The service is running".
After the first reboot as administrator I tried this again, the service continues to run , according to the display, and I can stop and restart it.
Any attempt to send a mail stops the connection to the service .
Mail provider is Strato

To clarify is that:

a) X55 Loses connection with the AS service when X55 is sending a mail
or
b) X55 loses connection with the AS Service when a mail is sent from a mail client on the same PC ?

As these are two different scenarios

NB you dont need to restart X55 in admin node to check on if the AS service is running|stope|start it, just open up the services window on the PC and check there. I've also set mine so that instead of take no action on failure it autorestarts
