My rig with a Leakshield has not been booted up for about 6 weeks. Today I booted it up and set the Leakshield to Protect mode. I don't use this computer every day, but every time I boot it up I cycle the Leakshield between Protect and Release a few times to exercise the valves. Today when I changed the mode to Release, the pressure did not release. I suspect the Release Valve is stuck. I opened the Diagnostics and did the Membrane Test in mounted condition. It failed that test. The result was "The negative pressure could not be released. Then I ran the Venting test. This caused the Leakshield to pump up to 400nbar of negative pressure. The pressure did not vent so it failed this test too. Possible causes was too much air in the system. I have an Ultitube D5 Next 150 w/ Leakshield. The coolant is DP Ultra (Clear) and the level is a bit less than half full. The Leakshield status page shows it has 64ml of coolant (2%) and 296ml of air. This is not correct. Currently, there is 386mbar of negative pressure.
I have tried switching the Leakshield between Monitor and Release, hoping that the release valve will unstick but so far it has not. The Manual strangely contains no information about the Leakshield Diagnostic tests or a stuck release valve. There is also nothing in the Leakshield FAQ. I searched this forum and found a
POST from Stephan that said try lightly tapping on the Leakshield with a screwdriver to release the valve. That did not work. He also said you can open the reservoir (remove the Leakshield) which will release the pressure, then try again. I could not find any information about visually inspecting the release valve or any procedure to manually cycle it or lubricate it. Any guidance for what to look for and what to do (if anything) with the release valve after removing it from the reservoir is appreciated.
I also found a POST from
Taubenhaucher that said a feature was added in which the Leakshield will automatically check the coolant level at regular intervals. I don't recall my Leakshield ever doing this. I am running Aquasuite X.95. The Leakshield firmware is v1022 which is the latest version. I looked through the Aquasuite update logs but could not find any mention of this automatic coolant level check being added. Can someone clarify which version of Aquasuite and/or Leakshield firmware added this feature? Is it safe to remove power to the Leakshield and unscrew it from the reservoir when it has 380mbar of negative pressure? I disconnected the USB cable and tried to turn the Leakshield counter-clockwise to unscrew it but so far, it will not budge. I don't know if this is because of the negative pressure or because it has not been removed from the reservoir in a long time. I don't want to break anything!
