The calitemp manual states:

The rubber ring with the cable connector can be rotated into six positions while gently pulling the black rubber ring away from the metal part.
Are the 6 indents on 60 degrees spacing allowing a full rotation?

When you disassemble the sensor you have 6 positions on the metal part where the sensor can measure.
