An English WaKue

Dienstag, 12. August 2003, 03:31

Hi all. I thought you might like to see my nearly finished Chieftec Dragon Mid tower (DX01-SL) project.

It still needs painting (has only one coat on the front so far) and other little things (front filter, rear window...).

here's how it started out and there are some progress pictures here.

Flow pattern is -
Aquatube 1.1
Eheim 1046 (in AquaBay CF)
Cuplex Evo 1.1
Twinplex (nF2)
Twinplex (GF3)
Aquadrive
Airplex Evo 240 (2 x 4412 F/2GL)

PSU is a PC Power & Cooling, modded with a 4412 F/2GML (my AquaPower is in my other PC) ;)

It was a lot of work (and I changed my plans a lot) but I like it. 8)
Please excuse my English - I'm English. :)

Danke guys :)

I'm sorry I can't post in German - babelfish is only so good... ;)

@TrOuble - I made a small guide here

@Metzler - Cheiftec do make good cases, but they can be improved... :D

Exactly my feelings too!  ;D

@TrOuble - thanks, that's a great compliment.
It works very well - I have great airflow through my APE now. :)

Stages 1 and 2 were a lot of work, I admit ;)
It still looked quite good with just stage 1 complete though.

A really cool photo... ;D

What schould I say? It´s a really good work you´ve done there. The front looks very cool... :D

I´m also sick of standard cases. I even wanted to plan a selfmade case. But then I found this beautiful Case, made of Aluminium. I loved it from first sight... ;)

@TrOuble - wow, I hadn't seen that one before.
Someone told me about the Chieftec Matrix case (after I did mine) too, which I hadn't seen either.

I thought about lights in the front but I had some problems with cold cathodes and I love my Papst fans too much to change them.
I like it like this because it feels more subtle. :)
I don't know if the phrase "street sleeper" will translate very well but it's like with cars - tuned engine and standard-looking bodywork (except to the trained eye ;)).

([Edit] CPU is a 1700 Tbred @

...on a good day ;))

@Manuel - Haha - you found me!  ;D
I love the CoolerMaster cases. (I could have bought one with what I spent on my "cheap" case too).
I may even have been influenced a little by their style too but it's great to have something "different". :)
Please excuse my English - I'm English. :)

Here is an other version i really like to show you :

http://www.moddingfreax.de/howto/cs601/front13.jpg

But your Front mod is a bit better then this one ... i´ve only got one problem with my LCD (whitch is in the Front of my Chieftech 601) atm my front is Sprayed Silver (i´ve got an black one) but only the middle of the front (sry ... but i really dont know how do describe it in englisch :-[ :'( )

@WizardD
That´s called "Understatement". Simple-looking, but high-tech inside... ;)

The Wavemaster costs 189€, that´s not really cheap... ;D

And you are right. Different from the others, that´s the meaning of case-modding.

@TrOuble - yes, I found that one after looking for the first one you showed me.
I tried to look at their forum too but it gave me an error page.

I think I know what you mean about your colours but it's ok if you speak German - I use babelfish when I read here normally and others help here too when I don't understand. :)
It's like the reason I did my stealth mod - to make it all look good together, yes?

@Manuel - yes, "understatements" are as cool as statements sometimes. ;D
With cost of the materials I bought to do it... I admit, mine wasn't cheap either!

Bitte! ;D

Sorry if my English is bad. I´m only using my school-English. I have´nt had a seminar or something yet... ;)

Hmmm, I do like the understatements more then the "overloaded". A case looks horrible if you can´t see it because of the many stickers. You surely know what I mean... ;)
But everyone has a different taste of a good-looking computer. Fortunately.... ;) ;D

Btw: I´ve written a litte review about the Wavemaster. Have a look... ;)
