Zotac GTX980ti AMP edition, kryographics and Backplate

Dienstag, 22. September 2015, 09:23

hey guys, just a heads up, I ran into a bit of a small snag when getting the waterblock and backplate installed.

The 2 Pin power connector "unused", looks like it may be the power connector for the reference cooler GTX LED logo (I assume that is what its for) , for some reason its bigger then usual compared to the reference GTX980, not allowing the block to fit making the board bow a little bit when installed, using a pair of pliers I gently tugged and pulled it off.. See below, pardon the picture quality but its serves its purpose.. :D

The other issue I ran into is the PCIE bracket, it protrudes out causing the other card next to it to push up against it, I'm unable to screw in the card due to the pressure of the plate pushing against the PCIE bracket.

ideas on where I can get a GTX980TI bracket without the protruding end ?

Hi Sven, for your reference since your mail form doesnt allow attachment.
Ran into another snag, the chokes or the VRM on it appears to be too big, causing the card to bow by about 1mm according to the ruler, seems ok with the backplates installed but the screws towards the rear of the card is very loose.

Please Advise.. Thx

I have checked everywhere and unable to find a PCIE bracket replacement, let alone find one that doesn't have that bend on the end, This will not effect users that are using 2 way SLI and don't have them spaced right next to each other, but for users that are using 3 way, 4 way, it could pose a problem if backplates are installed.

I have also looked at a few other OEM branded reference GTX980ti and it looks like they all use the same bracket, I think Zotac 980ti AMP may be listed as "reference" but it's just off by a mm.
