aquastrem XT questions

Dienstag, 22. September 2015, 20:54

I am looking at an aquastream XT/aquainlet combo for my next build, mostly because it is such a simple solution.

Anyone here have experience with the combination?
A possible loop will have an EKFB Monoblock and probably one, but maybe two (depending on how much I get for the kids) EVGA GeForce GTX TITAN Z, plus an airplex GIGANT 1680 for radiator duty.

Also, I found this Operation and assembly manual that states in section 11 on Eheim pumps:

Zitat

Since the pump includes a sunchronous motor, it generates a magnetic field as any electromagnetic motor. Also there is a rather powerful permanent magnet inside the pump. This magnet rotates and creates changing magnetic field, too. For this reason keep a safety distance of at least 0.5 m to all sensible devices, as hard drives, magnetic data media, screens, and so on. To shield this electromagnetic field you can also install the pump in a shielded case which is available separately.

Since I am not able to locate any Shielded Housing item in the store, can I assume the default delivery currently for all aquastream xt pumps is to include the Shielded Housing as standard?

mhmm, looks like not too many opinions on the aquastream XT/aquainlt here.

I did find Nam's reviews on the aquastream XT and the aquainlt... thank you Nam :)

I do wish there were a aquastream XT version available based on the Eheim 1048... external radiators can be a bit of a load.

Guess I could just purchase an Eheim 1048, but then I would not be able to control & monitor from aquasuite. And I Wonder if an aquainlet would direct mount onto a Ehiem 1048?

The housing is not available anymore due to conflicts with the RoHS and besides that it is also incompatible to the aquastream XT variant.

The recommendation to keep the pump away from HDDs is just a precaution. I guess nobody sticks to it and also in my system the HDD was always close to the pump.

The Eheim 1048 sucks - nothing more to say here... If that would be available as an aquastream XT variant, we would easily damage our reputation with it. The aquainlet series is compatible since the 1046 and 1048 use the same nozzle for the suction side.

Thanks Shoggy, appreciate the comments.

Sorry to see you don't have an opinion on the Eheim 1048 :)
I thought the thing was just a more powerful version of the 1046.
I will stay away from it.

The 1048 is very loud and has massive problems with higher resistance in a loop.
