Possible Aquaero 6 fan output expansions

Sonntag, 13. Dezember 2015, 15:43

Greetings to everyone!
Current setup: Aquaero 6 PRO USB controller + RTC, 5 temperature sensors and 4 PWM-controlled fans are in use.
Goal: add 1 - 4 PWM-controlled (which is better) or voltage-controlled fans more, maintaining the 'one fan - one channel' rule to keep the individual fan RPM monitoring.

Which variants to met the goal are available now and might be available in the near future (~1 year)?

1. Add the 'slave' Aquaero 5 LT controller, connected via aquabus. This will give +1 PWM output and +3 voltage-controlled outputs with RPM monitoring at 'master' controller.
2. Add several Powerajust 3 modules (as the Powerajust 2 series is EOL), connected via aquabus. This will give +1 voltage-controlled output with RPM monitoring at 'master' controller (per module).
3. Buy Aquaero 6 PRO controller, remove LCD panel and add the remained controller as 'slave' via aquabus. This will give +4 PWM outputs with RPM monitoring at 'master' controller. But this is undocumented. Will such solution work?
4. Wait for original 'expander' from Aquacomputer, which will be aquabus-manageable and have a number of fan outputs on single board. Does Aqua have plans to produce such module?

Cheers,
Deema

Unless something has changed recently, any main unit, lt5, or a6 as a slave won't give you any pwm control on that slave so that should guide you a bit.

Double.

Yeah, as above using an Aq5 as a slave just simulates adding 4 poweradjust units and is only voltage control capable. That will give you four more VC channels though and if only using single fans PWM isn't all that important anyway.

Its a lot of effort to go to just to have RPM reporting.

Is this an Aquasuite configurator limitation or aquaero hardware platform? If Aquasuite - situation still might turn to better.

Why? The RPM reporting triggers alarms and notifications, this is a very good mechanism to maintain hardware authonomy as better as possible.

And 4x poweradjust units will consume much space/wiring/money than single Aq5 LT.

I would say firmware, but I've asked Seb and co this same question before and they said, IIRC, it was a HW issue.
