Aquaero/Aquabus Dual Loop Questions

Hello! I'm using an Aquaero for the first time in a new build and wanted to have a few people look it over and help me out.


System is dual loop, and I'd like to be able to control both loops independently. Here are the parts I have planned:


-Aquaero 6 Pro
-D5 Pumps w/ Aquaero Interface (1 on each loop, total of 2)
-Aquacomputer G1/4 Temp Sensor (1 on each loop, total of 2)
-Aquacomputer Flow Sensor Flow 400 (1 on each loop, total of 2)
-EK Vardar PWM Fans (4 on each loop, total of 8)


My goal is to have both loops (pumps and fans) scale with their respective water temperatures. I am using a large Case Labs case so room for extra accessories is not an issue.
  1. What is the most efficient way to have 2 D5's connected via Aquabus that can be independently controlled, while at the same time integrating 2 flow sensors? I would need 4 Aquabus inputs, using some sort of combination of expansion modules (real time clock? poweradjust? etc). If there is a simper way of doing this, I'd be open to any suggestions. I'm a little confused with the options in regards to Aquabus vs USB, etc.
  2. I assume it would be safe to run 4 fans per channel (via splitter), as the total draw of all 8 fans would be less than 17 watts, but assurance would be nice.
  3. Any issues with using the 400 flow sensors? The research I have done has pointed to these being the correct choice with a D5 loop.

Any other thoughts or advice would be greatly appreciated.

1.) You will need a splitter and maybe two 4-pin aquabus cables in addition if you do not want to run the flow sensors with USB and the 3-pin cable for aquabus. Since all devices use the same aquabus ID number by default you will have to change that first via USB for three of devices. The ID can be changed in the system tab of the device.

2.) No problem at all.

3.) The mps flow 200 might be the better choice if you also plan to adjust the speed of the pump. It is unlikely that you will pass 200 l/h. The benefit would be that your readable minimum flow rate would come down from 80 to 40 l/h and the overall accuracy should be also better.

You could setup the fan and pump curves individually in the software once you get all the hardware configured on the AQ 6, based on water temps of that particular loop and go from there. That's what I have set up and it works great as one big loop.

Pumps are really best to set & forget. Find your sweet spot for the flow rate and noise level you prefer, and leave em alone.
Scale the fans' speed on a curve that works off a delta between your water temp & ambient air (room temperature). The greater the delta, the faster the fans run.
