Very disappointed of the commercial support of Aquacomputer

Montag, 23. August 2021, 01:50

Hello,

I got several issues with Aquacomputer products and services, so I decided to share my very mixed experienced with Aquacomputer.
I brought the cuplex kryos NEXT VARIO with VISION AM4/3000, the kryographics NEXT RTX 2080 Ti, the active back plate, the VISION RGBpx connection terminal for kryographics with active back plate, the ULTITUBE D5 100 PRO reservoir with D5 NEXT pump, the LEackshield, led stuff... I went into 3 technical issues:
  1. the fan header of my D5 Next is not working at all: see http://planete-flop.fr/gallerie/_data/i/…9c0e38fb-me.jpg and my post D5 NEXT: Fan header not functionnal
  2. the VISION RGBpx connection terminal has a dimensional issue: the screen can't fit without breaking
  3. the kryographics was not tighten enough to work at the Leakshield standard pressure: check that video http://planete-flop.fr/gallerie/upload/2…54-302f54f6.mp4 where bubbles can be seen going from top to bottom at the oring

about that screen issue, here is the log:
1- I received the VISION RGBpx connection terminal for kryographics with active back plate: the screen was not fixed/clipped in it. I thought it was a great idea since I had to plug the temperature sensor and the rgbpx cable.
2- when I switched on the power, the screen was not working and I saw cracks on the screen. Fitting the screen on the terminal was actually very difficult, so I thought I was careless. I've order a replacement screen, product n° 53240.
3- the installation of the replacement screen was again very difficult. And when I switched on, I actually saw and heard a crack on the screen. I've just seen the logo in full a second. Half the screen died (see pics at the end). Then it entirely died.
4- Moreover, the replacement screen, product n° 53240, is in fact NOT the one with the RGBpx support: when I contacted the support, they was their mistake and added in the shop the correct reference.

So I've paid 23e for nothing because it was the wrong products AND the screen can't fit in my terminal. And I've paid for a broken D5 Next controller.

The support will send me a replacement screen and a D5 Next controller. BUT changing the controller is a huge pain in the *ss since I need to flush the coolant, unscrew the pump to the support, unplugg fragile small glass tubes and deal with the lake of space to maneuver. So after all those unfortunates events, after paying 23e for nothing, after paying almost 1k€ of high end products, I have asked a commercial gesture from Aquacomputer to have a Quadro for free or at a discount price to finally use the Aquasuite to handle the fans without changing the controller. Just a way to get my 23€ back and to get a bit of appreciation from Aquacomputer after all that sweat and tears to get things working while it will never work.
What was the answer? an invoice with the same exact displayed price :!: :cursing: really?
After all those back and forth with you. After all that time and money spent. After waiting for the products to be shipped. After a missing product in your shop, not one not two but three technical issues. After a commitment to use and showcase that many Aquacomputer products and services for the years to come (It's quite obvious that after owning a Next pump and a Leakshield, the customer will re use them in his future build and therefore will pay the software license). After all that, just nothing?

Well I think that feeling was worth sharing here, before potential customers commit themselves as I did.

about the screen, I also investigated more with the second screen, the non RGBpx one.
Both Vision units are the same product with just a shorting cables (not insulated btw).
with the pics below you can very clearly see that the top plastic bit (in the orange circle on the picture) applied to much pressure on the screen. On the first screen, the cracks starts at the bottom, so that was the bottom one which induced the cracks. So in both cases, the pressure applied was too high on the width of the product and that mechanical constrain on the black plastic cover was distributed to the screen itself, which is not flexible. The mechanical constrain on the black plastic cover comes from the transparent plastic bit at the top, which reduces way too much the width when lodging the VISION into the terminal. Your terminal tolerances may be faulty, your design for the vision may be faulty...

I've removed with a scalpel the rectangular transparent plastic at the top of the screen. Not surprisingly the screen fits much much more easily. It wiggles a bit since the fit is no more extremely tight but it holds it.

the 2 dead screens

investigation and explanations of why it broke

just before removing the plastic

now fitting the screen without the top transparent plastic

working like a charm:

Finally Sven came back from its holidays and took over the situation in a much more professional manner :)
