MPS Flow 400 and ZMT 10/16 with 3/8 ID fittings - Diffusor Plate Install Question

Thursday, February 10th 2022, 8:28pm

Hello, I'm new to the Aquaero platform. I have an Aquaero 6 running my watercooling set up and I'm getting ready to rebuild my loop and I'll be adding an mps flow 400 sensor. My fittings are Bitspower 3/8" ID 5/8" OD and my tubing is ZMT 10/16 which is actually 9.5mm ID and 15.9mm OD. In the documentation, it says to use the diffusor plate for the mps 400 if tubing and fittings are 8mm ID, but not to use it for 10mm ID. Technically, my fittings and tubing are 9.5mm ID (.375 inch). They are marketed as 10 mm, but they are not truly 10 mm. I'm trying to decide whether or not I will install the diffusor plate. I really don't want to have to drain my loop if I choose poorly, but really, I'll never know the difference since this will be the only device measuring flow. If it makes any difference, my loop will be cooling a cpu and gpu with 3 radiators and I'll be using a dual DDC pump setup. Should I install the diffusor plate or not? How much different will the calibration be?

Your tube is above 8mm and does NOT require the diffusor.

The requirement is stated a little more clearly on the PRODUCT PAGE:

Quoted

Important notice:
If used with tubing with an inner diameter below 8 mm (for example plug & cool), for models mps flow 200 and mps flow 400 an extension (art. no. 63035) must be installed into the inlet port of the sensor to harmonize coolant flow. Without extension, the sensor readings are not valid for these configurations!

Edit: and it's the fitting more than the tube.

Thanks, I was hoping that was the case. 9.5 is a lot closer to 10 than it is 8 anyway.
