How are RGB cables supposed to connect to Farwerk when both connections are female???

Samstag, 18. Juni 2022, 19:08

I just received my Octo and Farbwerk 360. I started to make the connections for the ARGB lights, but the ARGB cables and the FW are females. My cables are the 3- pin ARGB female. How am I going to connect these to the FW 360?

aaah but that's not an ARGB Farbwerk360. this one is the previous Farbwerk (not 360) for 12V analog, non adressable RGB. If you manage to connect ARGB leds to it that will kill them since ARGB is 5V.
You need the Farbwerk360

This one is male, 3 pin adressable

Aww. Phooey. I thought it was the same thing. The reason I chose the one I currently have is because I did not want the LED strips and the other cables. I thought I was buying just the board. I did not look closely at the pin configuration on it. Oh well, back to ordering again.

Yeah DO NOT plug any 5VDC ARGB LEDs into that Farbwerk. The Farbwerk360 and Farbwerk Nano will work with 5VDC ARGB LEDs. If you have ARGB LEDs with the standard (horrible) 4-pin but really 3-pin connector, you will need to get a #53282 RGBpx adpater.

I did`nt plug any thing into the Farbwerk USB that I have. The cables won`t fit in it anyway. Also, my PC build is not yet finished. I still have more cables to run and the water cooling tubing work to do. I just ordered 2 Farbwerk 360`s yesterday. Thanks.

Since you ordered 2 Farbwerk360's I will mention that currently there is no way to synchronize them. I installed 2 Farbwerk360's in my latest build and found out the hard way that while they do both show up in Aquasuite, they do not synchronize with each other. Even if I set an RGBpx port on both of them to the exact same preset, they do not sync. I had to rearrange the port assignments for my various RGB devices due to this. Just something to be aware of while you are laying things out. If you want LEDs on different RGBpx ports to sync, they need to be plugged into the same Farbwerk360. The good news is that Aquacomputer mentioned in a post a few months ago that they would be releasing an update that allows sync between RGBpx ports. No more detail than that so far. I tried to find the post where they said this is coming but was not successful.

I don't know if this new sync feature will be limited to the Farbwerk devices or will extend to any device with an RGBpx port. The Farbwerk360 has an aquabus port on it. The owner's manual says this is "reserved for future use". I don't know if the pins on that port are connected to a serial line driver and UART or not. If they are, they may be able to use this port to send sync pulses or data between 2 Farbwerk360's. If they can attain sync over USB, then it may be possible to sync more than 2 devices. I am anxiously awaiting an update on this from Aquacomputer.

Good luck with your build.

Okay, thanks for the heads up. For now, I will make sure the rad fans are on the same FW 360. This way it would make it less obvious sync wise. Thanks.
