Hardware Monitor ignores video card

Samstag, 15. Juni 2024, 01:52

I am finding Aqua Computer Hardware Monitor is ignoring my 3080 nvidia video card and instead reporting on my onboard intel CPU based graphics, which is not being used.
I can confirm using other software that the 3080 is active.
And a different program, Open Source Hardware Monitor reports on the 3080 appropriately.
I assume I'm going to have to remove the drivers for the onboard graphics and/or otherwise change windows settings such that Aqua Computer Hardware Monitor will find my video card.
If anyone has experienced this issue please let me know. thank you

Good news.
Note that I did have to disable the Intel CPU integrated graphics vis the BIOS.
Disabling via the windows device manager would reset on turning the computer on and off.
Going to the bios and disabling the integrated graphics worked though.
The Aqua Computer Hardware Monitor now sees my 3080.
I hope if someone has integrated graphics they are not using that blocks their video card from being sensored will see this post.

Reply from Martin responsible for hwinfo
"This is not a problem of HWiNFO but standard concept of dual-graphics. By default the dGPU (3080) is disabled to preserve power and woken up only when there's a higher load.
HWiNFO fully respects this concept and won't wake up the dGPU when there's no need. Otherwise running HWiNFO just to monitor the dGPU would result in increased power consumption.
You need to put a higher load on your dGPU to wake it up."
