Leakshield: would the water cause any damage to the membrane if it submerged?

Dienstag, 13. August 2024, 12:32

Hi guys,
I run soft tubing and I didn't realize 400 mBar would raise the water line in the reservoir so much (Ultitube 100). So what happens when it reaches the membrane of the vacuum pump?
Would the device pick up on that or it would continue pumping? Not sure if it has any way of telling that there's water at the membrane. Sure enough the fill level measurement is all over the place, so that's of no use.

Also, would it cause any trouble for the Leakshield if the reservoir would be laid down on its side? I'd make sure the vacuum pump won't trigger during that time, but the membrane would get submerged.
I'd like to tip over the PC case to get rid of an air pocket in the radiator.
Thanks!

I think its OK if coolant touches the membrane but the Leakshield will not function properly until the membrane is dry. This is what Aquacomputer rep Shoggy said in a thread on their Reddit support site.

A membrane protects the device from coolant but when this membrane becomes wet, LEAKSHIELD can not operate correctly until it is dry again. LINK TO POST
