Leakshield: how to rid of the false alarms?

Mittwoch, 28. August 2024, 21:48

Hi guys,
Admittedly my loop is not air tight, but it's water tight. I tested it on a filled system with 0.5 bar overpressure (air pump at the high point, water below) and there was no pressure drop on the gauge over the course of an hour and everything was dry as dust in the case. But as soon as I put the system under negative pressure, my dear frenemy Leakshield is complaining constantly about the leakage. Well, water is not coming out, so I couldn't care less if
air is getting in. I read it on this forum that water loops are not designed to be air tight, so there's that: deal with it Leakshield!
But my man is going mad about the frequent pumping actions, even when it is supposed to do its normal job of increasing the vacuum with the pump speed in adaptive mode.
Look at this image! When the pump speeds up, that sets the alarm off. How do I tell it to f.ck off and just do its job and keep pumping? :D
Thanks!

The chart looks like your membrane have a problem.
What do the logs from the status look like when you have these false alarms?
Run the error diagnosis.

Hey Sebastian!
The diagnostic suggested a clogged membrane. That's odd. Thanks for the tip! All it ever saw is just some DP Ultra. I was under the impression that the membrane is waterproof and it should be able to continue to operate even after coming into contact with the coolant. It was suggested on the forum that when the membrane gets wet, it stops working until it's dry again. I assumed it actually stops working, as in there would be some indication of this: perhaps an error message, it wouldn't turn on, etc.
The reservoir also have constant condensation on its wall and on the bottom of the Leakshield. It's a 100 tall Ultitube and it's about half full normally. I just leave this guy to air dry and I'll put it back tomorrow.

This didn't answer the original question though, that how do I make it to shut up about the frequent pumping? I had 0.1-0.5 mBar/min leakage from day 1 no matter what I did (and God knows I did try to troubleshoot it and I found that everything is as it should be). As I wrote the loop holds water just fine. It just doesn't hold the vacuum. So I'd still need a way to disable the triggering of the "too frequent pumping" alarm. I don't care how frequently it has to work. It either suck it up and keep pumping or I send it back for a refund, because how realistic is it to expect an air sealed water loop?
Make air tight water loops first, then we can come back to this expectation of 30 seconds a day and how frequently the pump should work. So ideally I don't want it to alarm at all, unless there's an actual sudden pressure drop, such as when I drill a hole into a tube or leave a fitting lose (like in the promo videos). That's the only alarm I would care about.
If it isn't pumping without stopping, then there's no leak to talk about. :P

in most cases, the problem is that plasticizer has dissolved from the hoses and then clogged the membrane.

I've got TPV tubing. According to Bing AI, this does not contain plasticizer. Plus the loop is like 2 weeks old.

Any idea about disabling the kind of alarms that don't show up in the settings?
