Moisture detected message

Mittwoch, 26. März 2025, 14:36

After my D5 next pump/reservoir combo has been working very well for 2 months or so, last week I opened the top lid and not 2 seconds later I got this extremely annoying alarm. And I really mean extremely annoying and with no way to stop it. Since then, whenever I run my pump with the lid on, I get the message inside of half an hour or so. If I remove the lid, it works without any problems.I don't understand why.

I did disassemble the electronic board on the bottom and didn't find any signs of moisture. Let it out to dry, used a hair dryer etc. The moment I turned it back on, got the alarm.

This is incredibly frustrating, I can't use my computer at all because of this, what can I do?

Then coolant must have dripped into the electronics.

You must dry the electronics for MANY hours (24+), if possible at 35..50°C.

The alarm cannot be switched off. If something is moist, the controller can fail at any time.

Depending on the coolant, conductive residues can settle under the components, in which case the controller will still give an alarm even after drying. The controller must then be replaced.

Not being able to turn off the alarm is a strange decision, especially since the sound is sooo loud and annoying, who even came up with that? If safety alarms in airplanes can be muted, why not for a water pump in consumer products?

Anyway, I dissasembled the whole thing, including the 2 electronic boards and I did find indeed moisture, right between the bottom board and the plastic housing. Therefore I could wipe it clean and dry everything and I didn't need to wait 24h. I imagine that it was triggering the alarm when I was putting the lid on just because it was slightly heavier and the board would have touched the water.
Unfortunately the whole design is not ideal, the way it's built any drop of water that might spill from the tank will invariably end up there. I would have thought that electronics sitting under a lot of water all the time would be a bit more water tight. It's also very difficult to just check and see, and then you have to wait 24h or some undeterminate amount of time, hoping it all dries up, instead of having an easy way of opening and cleaning, which could solve the issue in 10 mins.
Just my two cents.
