Questions About Air Temperature Placement

Samstag, 10. Mai 2025, 07:47

Hello everyone. I've got two open spots for temp sensors on my Octo and one on my motherboard and was thinking the best way to go would be to grab intake, exhaust, and case ambient somewhere. Open to suggestions there keeping in mind I have three sensor spots. I could get two more if I wanted to hunt down the tiny connector style that works with high flow next sensors and get them to the US, but five total seems like a lot in an already "a lot" build.

Next is how would one attach the intake and exhaust? I'm push in the front and pull out the top.

Case is a Corsair 9000D with two Alphacool xt45 400mm radiators that have two 200mm Noctua Chromax fans each and 120mm Noctua Chromax fans filling the back and side. The front, side, and rear are intake and the top is exhaust in hopes of trying to get this near positive pressure. The loop order is GPU, CPU, rad, rad; and I have a temp sensor going into GPU, a high flow next inbetween CPU and first rad, and finally the second high flow next after the radiators before the pump. The loop is likely to get re-done as much as I really don't want to move this thing around as I mistakenly wasted a water temp sensor directly before the second high flow next, but the actual order won't change.

Thanks for any help.

I would try to get a sensor poking outside of the case for ambient temperature if you can. Nice to see another Noctua fan (pun not intended). I've got two water temp sensors, one high flow next at one side of the gpu+ cpu block and an aquacomputer sensor at the end of the radiators/before cpu block. This way I can calculate power dissipated.

I could not find the motherboard air sensor when I connected it last, so many temperature sensors it just gets lost.

The noctuas were the best bet for 200mm compatibility and at that point I stuck with them for the rest lol. The are definitely good fans though. The 120mm ones can be heard at full tilt but the 200mm fans are mouse fart territory.

Speaking of power dissipated I thought I had seen someone on here talking about that while lurking. Is that done through a virtual sensor function?
