High Flow Next PC start issues

Freitag, 11. Juli 2025, 18:05

Bought the High Flow Next last week. Have had random PC issues since then.

The latest problem is sometimes when I shut down the pc I can't power it on again. Some external USB devices start flickering and the pc is totally unresponsive.
The only way to bring it back to life is to pull the 24pin connector from the motherboard, Never in all my years of PC use have I encountered this. Tried pulling PSU cable, resetting bios, reflashing bios etc. Nothign worked. It was only in a last ditch attampt that I figured out pulling and reseating tth 24pin revives the PC.

I tried to figure out what caused this and said as it only started recently I will try to unlug the High Flow Next. Problem solved.
Any idea why this device is killing the PC? I will have to send it back to where I bought is, but would still ike to know why this is happening.

Does the High Flow Next work? The single-row 5-pin USB connector that attaches to a mobo USB2.0 header is not keyed and is very easy to plug in backwards, or off by 1 pin. If either of those things happened, I don't think the High Flow Next would work. If it was plugged in shifted by one pin, +5VDC would end up connected to the Data (-) pin and the Data (+) pin would end up connected to ground. This could cause the chipset that the mobo USB2.0 header is connected to to not be happy. The only connection the High Flow Next has to your system is that USB cable.
