Help me with a Sapphire Radeon HD3850 AGP !!!

Freitag, 23. Mai 2008, 00:54

I have recently bought a Sapphire Radeon HD3850 AGP.
To make my PC more silent, I also bought a corresponding waterblock to add it into my cooling loop (that block was from Koolance, if any one wonders).

But when trying to mount it, I realised that the block didn't quite fit on board :
- The MOSFET aren't placed at the normal place were 3850 PCIe's are, but look much more like those of a 3870 PCIe.
- There's capacitor near the top right screw that gets in the way and cause the block to be mis-aligned about 2 millimetres from the board.
(Picture over there).
So I'll try to return that water block to the manufacturer.

NOW THE BIG QUESTION IS :
Can some of the AquaComputer's AquagrAtix block be mounted on a Sapphire Radeon HD3850 AGP ?
Has someone got success mounting a single-slot water bloc on that video card ?

Or should I give up trying to find a 1-slot water bloc for that card ?

edit: please no links to other manufacturers

Welcome to the forum :)

We have no full cover blocks for the 3850 cards. You can use a twinplex block to cool the GPU.

Yup, apparently
After studying the various picture of the aquagrATIx 3870 blocks, apparently they seem more compatible regarding the mosfets and the capacitor
*BUT*
There's a bump in the shape near the lower left screw of the block which will very obviously be in conflict with the two crystals mounted next to the GPU of my card. Damn !

- Does that block fit within a single slot ? Or will it obstruct the PCI next to my AGP ?
- Do aquacomputer also produce separate water blocks for the memory ? (I didn't manage to find any on the website, but maybe I'm looking at the wrong place).

If that was the case that would be wonderful. (And also reusable)

The twinplex is no single-slot solution. We also do not offer any blocks for the ram chips. It might be possible to use one of our voltage regulator blocks but you would have to use thermal glue to mount them.
