Geforce Fx 6600 GT

Freitag, 10. Dezember 2004, 21:22

I just ordered me two of theese puppies, and I'm wondering if Aquacomputer has any plans for a waterblock for theese cards, with that I mean something like the aquagraFX, 5900/5950/Ultra block.

I allredy have a Geforce Fx 5800 wich is 100% watercooled by Aquacomputer, but it's OLD, HOT, and SLOW.... hehe...

Awesome products !!!!

I dont think there will be aquagrafx's for these cards...
Because there weren't aquagrafx's for the 5700/5600 series, and if AC would have planned some, they would have released them together wiith the aquagrafx6800...

As you already said - it's old, too old ;)

I would say it's not worthwhile for AC to manufacture a cooler for this card. In my opionen there wouldn't be enough buyer.

The 6600GT old ::)

it's as new as you can get... I personally would also like a solution for the 6600GT :)

But the 6600GT just became avalible to the market, and the 6800\6800 ultra has been avalible for e few months...

Also, the 6600 GT is a MUCH better card than 5700\5600 ever was.... it's a lot faster than both x600 and x700....

There is a solution...
Buy a Twinplex... :)

Sure, it is better, but AC produces the aquagrafx/gratx series just for the highend class, and the 6600 GT is designed for Mainstream.

(Sorry for my English... ;) )

My 5800 non ultra wassnt exactly High end...  :P

Annyways, a twinplex Block won't cool down my memmory modules, in fact it removes the little airflow there is around the heatsinks...

I did that with the 5800, removed the original fan (hair dryer deluxe :P), and fitted a twinplex block, the computer barely booted, a LOT of artifacts... The ramsinks was so hot they burned my fingers when I tutched them..

I had to add an aditional 60mm fan on each side of the 5800 card, just to cool the ramsinks... :P

When I finally got my Aquacomputer Geforce fx 5800 ramsink coolers and installed them, my overal system temperature increased by 10celcius !

I have 2 x 120 mm radiators + 1 x 240 mm radiator, and a eheim 1048, + aquatube...

I see lots of people ordering 6600GT's but i see almost no people ordering 68*** series so there should be a marked for a GFX cooler...

totally agree with SantaClaw.

also the 6600GT can be used in SLI (2 videocards can't really been seen as mainstream...).

Hi,

Isn't there a public message from nvidia said that the memory doesn't need to get cooled?

Correct me if I'm wrong ..
PC [liquid cooled]: AMD Athlon64 3000+ ASUS A8N SLI Deluxe MSI NX6600GT 128MB DDR PCIe

There is one, and it's true, the memory doesn't need to be cooled...
It works quite good, when a case fan blows over the memory chips...

Hm... so a case fan blowing over the memory issnt seen as coolin the memory ???? :P

How come all of the 6600GT's I've seen has had ramsinks ???

They ARE using gddr3 memory @ 1000 mgz (500x2)...

BTW, I want a fanless pc, that is without any fans at all, (I've got two 120 mm fans, just to get some circulation) other than those two fans, Papst @ 20% normal speed, I havent got any fans, and I sure as (guess) don't want to install any more of them...

So, I'm NOT after extreme performance when watercooling the GFX, but I'm after a quiet, and stable computer without sacrificing performance...

2 Papst should be enough...
But, you need a good radiator if you want it fanless...

I've got three radiators :
1 x Airplex EVO 1800
1 x Airplex EVO 120
1 x Black Ice 120

The two 120 mm radiators, one in the top rear, and the other in the bottom front of the case have the two papst fans attached.

My system is devided in two, the two 120 mm radiators cool my harddrives, and the EVO 1800 cools my cpu, chipset, and GFX....

The Airplex EVO 1800 is in the room next door, just a pair of hoses through the wall :) .

In my next project, I think I shall do a 100% watercooled system.

Now that my Geforce FX5800 won't require the memory coolers any more, I can dismantle it (actually 4 small colers pressed into a plexi holder).

I'm opting for the Asus A8N-SLI-Deluxe motherboard this time.

I plan to watercool :

Chipset, CPU, four hdd's, both GFX cards, PSU.

In addition I plan to cool the volt regulators on the motherboard, using the fx5800 coolers !

A few drops of arctic adhesive and they wil be "set" for life...

Right now, I'm pushing my Xp2500+ @ 2500 mgz, getting maximum stability, I can go as high as 2625 mgz... but then I get random crashes..

Been using this setup 24-7 for over two years !!!...

I ran my 5800 Ultra without any flaws just using a twinplex waterblock for gpu.

At the moment im using a twinplex and little memory heatsinks to cooldown my 6800 gt. I believe u will not needed anything bigger for a 6600gt card.

I guess I got a "bad" batch, because my 5800 (non ultra) needed airflow over the ramsinks in order to boot :P

Althogh, when it finally boots, I run it just fine @ utlra speeds, and beyond, memory clocked @ 1200 mgz ! GPU @ 600 mgz ! (watercooled memory, can't remember what it clocked @ when it was aircooled)

I'll have to order myself another twinplex so I have one for each 6600GT card.

Thanx alot for the input.

Hm.. the 6600GT only have two sets of ram banks each, and the 5800 had four, so I could just glue the 5800 sinks onto the two 6600GT memory banks.... :)

That might work...

It is now possible to pre order coolers for the 6600 GT PCI express !!!
