Purpose of Aquabay?

Sonntag, 24. April 2005, 09:59

I was planning my next build today when a thought came to me. If the aquatube is supposed to be an air trap, then how does it function when integrated into the aquabay? Many people mount their radiators on the top of their cases. Unless you put the aquabay in the top two drive bays, then chances are your radiator will be higher than your aquatube.

Here is a picture of what I am describing: http://www.aquacomputer.com/cgi-bin/shop…case_lo_500.jpg

In that photo, the radiator is the highest point in the system because the aquatube is located in the aquabay and in the bottom two drive bays. Won't air get trapped in the radiator with this setup? I hope someone can answer this for me. :)

It shouldn't do if you're using an AC radiator. ;D

I think their design as a small bore multipass rad should mean there won't be so many places that air could get trapped.

If you're mounting an airplex rad horizontally across the top of your case this would make getting air out of it easier - you'd only have to gently rock your case from side to side and front to back a few times to flush any air through.

First of all, you can't get water in it in this position, you have to lean the case on the backside (then the AT is the highest point).

Another thing is, that it is no problem if the AT is not the highest point, it's a little easier but not nessesary :).
