More on Multiswitch's

Mittwoch, 9. November 2005, 11:16

Okay I have a Multiswitch here and I am trying to decipher the instructions.

  • Where does the Multiswitch get power from?

  • Does the power come from the Aquaero, the PSU Molex, or through the Aquabus?

  • If you hook up the Multiswitch to the Aquaero via the Aquabus do you also need to use the USB cable?

  • Can someone please explain what the Configuration jumpers do as listed on pages 9 and 10 of the manual?

Thanks :)

1) trough the Molex-Connector (directly from the psu)

2) ?? - same question - trough the molex-connector :P

3) No, if you connect the ms to the aquabus you mustn't connect it to usb, only one connection is allowed. To connect it to the aquabus you have to use the 3-Pin-cable (same like the aquastream-tacho-cable)

4) i don't have the manual :-/

Thanks for the information. ;D

Is it possible to hook up additional flowmeters to the Multiswitch as I would like to run three?

If I attach an Aquastream controller to the Multiswitch I assume I shouldn't run power to the controller correct?

Will I have the same software capabilities on the Aquastream attached to the Multiswitch that I would with the other two attached to the Aquaero?

IIRC I can run two Aquastream controllers off the Multiswitch, correct?

What is the better way to connect the Multiswitch. From the Aquabus or directly to the USB?

Hm, you can connect more than one devices to the aquaero (two multiswitches and a tubemeter) - but there is only one Tab for the tubemeter in the aquasuite, so I assume it's only possible to connect one tubemeter to the aquaero, the others must be connected to usb (but there you can connect up to 127 devices per root-Hub, so theoreticially you can connect 500 and more devices in a system (most mobos have at least two root-hubs and it's possible to get more by using PCI-cards).

That's right, choose the connection cable or use the molex, but don't use both at the same time.

Yes, I think so.

Another yes, so with a aquaero and a multswitch you can connect up to 4 aquastreams (and if thats not enouhh: you can connect more than one aquaero to a system ;D)

I would connect the tubemeter to the aquabus - there you can implent it to the emergency-shutdown-settings.
For the multswitch I would choose the USB-Port, 'cause you will have your own script-window and so on just for the multiswitch.
