Bot ok, some help:
-affected our life since when? stone-age? midage? the last 200/100/50 years?
-what kind of technology? my pc is important to me, but living without wouldn't kill me or using a bike/car: is very helpful, but would not hurt you if there were not available
-comunication: helped the global communication, but also caused lots of trouble (there are lots of texts dealing with the negative aspects of globalism)

So, all in all, it's a question of defining "technological developement", in generell, today's life would not exist without .

You're not a native speaker, are you? How old are you? Did your teacher give you any instructions on this task?

The following opinion is my own and is based on the idea of real modern technological gadgets.
1. The cell-phone:
I must admid, that I own one of myself but I actually don't like that opinion if being contacted where ever I am.
But it is usefull to find someone in a big city or in a crowd.

2. The internet / e-mail:
It is realy great to have a way of comunication around the glob.
It is faster, cheaper and more personal (voip) to use the internet for comunication then sending a letter. (Maybe excepted of one way of writing.)

3. The mp3-player:
Now this is only a new skin for an old idea: Carry your favorite music with you. In older days you used a walkman or a discman instead of your mp3-player. But: It can be very usedfull (the story of the iPod that saved some ones life.) Or cause many trouble. (Ever tried to talk to some one who is entertaining the train by lisening to his mp3-player?)

Well to sum up: It depends on how you're using your technical gadgets.

Edit: Additional opinion / suggestion:
Why don't you try to compare it with the generation of your parents? (depending on where you live this could be realy intresting)

i think writing a short story doesn't mean that you should do a research but that you should write a fictitious story that shows a example.

something like fight club or tron or cast away (seems that i'm looking more movies than reading books).

think e.g. of a story where a business man with cell phone, pda and laptop has to live a week without that and how this affects him personally when he meets people he has never seen before but knows only through mail and phone.

or how a blogger starts a war with, e.g., some caricatures or better: stops it.
